"Your thoughts and resolutions are the root cause for your ill health. For all the unrest and agitation you suffer, the gunas (qualities) are responsible. Hence, your thoughts must always be good. You may observe that a person taking good and sathwic (pure) food, drinking pure water, and breathing unpolluted air is always healthy. In contrast, people consuming unsacred food, drinking impure water, and inhaling polluted air are exposed to various kinds of diseases. The root cause of your ill-health today is unsacred food and impure water. All that you consume must always be pure and sacred."

Your views ???

What a lovely notion!!! I am a hospice nurse. If you aren't familiar with hospice we care for the terminally ill(dying) patient and the family of the patient. You quote, obviously, some philosopher and that is fine except that there are no absolutes in this world. A philosophy however "intelligent and informed" it may sound when repeated is still simply a persons own views on a subject. You say that a person who eats "good" food, drinks "pure" water and "breathes" clean air will be a healthy person. One who does the opposite of all those things will be unhealthy. Medically speaking that is a false belief. Many very people were perfectly healthy up to the day they are diagnosed with cancer or some other debilitating or terminal disease. It is a good practice to eat healthy, drink healthy fluids and to not smoke or otherwise breathe in pollutants. But to think that the health food people are the only ones who can expect a long and prosperous life is really to delude yourself. Some of my patients have never done anything unhealthy and they still get cancer or some other terminal illness.

Yes, and no - one can think oneself ill, and make resolutions that cause ill health, or the opposite - thinking and acting on thoughts does change body chemistry.
Consuming only pure and sacred things will make some people unhealthy.
Some people can thrive in unpure conditions.
There are schools of thought (g) that do not believe in free thought or action - that we have no choice but to follow our own path.
We can only act according to what we have learned, we cannot act outside of ourselves.
