I work at a spay/neuter clinic at a cat shelter, and we spay pregnant cats RIGHT UP TO THE END!!!! As long as they are not in labor, we will spay them.
Last year, we did spay/aborts on cats that would have resulted in 510 MORE kittens being born!!!!! With shelters in the area already at maxium, where would 510 more kittens end up?????????????????? Many would have been euthanized. Why let them all be born so we can kill them later???

Gee April and Mel....GREAT IDEA!!!! Like I said, shelters HAVE to put them to sleep because there ARE NOT enough homes!!!!!
That is just dumping the problem on the shelters. If your own personal cat has kittens, then YOU are responsible for them and you can have them put to sleep if you cannot find homes, not have the shelter do it for you.
You are living in a fantasy world if you think there are enough homes for all the kittens that are born, much less the ones that are aborted during pregnant spays.
And cats CAN NOT make a choice to abstain from sex!!!!!! It is instinct!!!! If they are unspayed, they will breed if the chance arises. Let's stop putting human emotions on the cats.

I don't know how many weeks but I know it can happen. A friend of mine had her cat desexed whilst pregnant (she was only 5 months and her daughter had let the cat out of the house). Also one of the siblings of the cat we rescued was also pregnant and I know that they aborted those kittens.

I sure hope you're not talking about your own cat......!!!!

Anyway, cat's don't get aborted, they just get the kittens, and if the cat is yours, YOU will have to take your responsibility and provide a place for your cat where she can nurse her kittens.
Once the kittens are weened, you can bring them to an animal-shelter, and they will look for good homes for them.

You CAN have a cat's uterus removed (hysterectomy), that would prevent her from ever getting pregnant again.
Luckily I've never heard of a vet (yet) who was willing to do a hysterectomy while the cat was still pregnant.

I dont think they perform kitty abortions... either way thats kind of cruel dont you think?? I mean why not let her have the kittens then take them to the shelter once they're old enough??

are you kidding??? that's just evil. people can make their own choices about such things, but someone purposely causing their cat to have an abortion is just evil. EVIL EVIL EVIL.
