am so glad you had such a positive experience at this school, and that it is motivating you to want to keep it open for others.
i suggest writing to your mp and getting up a petition. you could also try local media such as radio and newspapers because this would attract a lot of attention and may lead to people investing more in the school to keep it open.
good luck!

It's been a few years sicne you went there, and I'm going to bet the world has changed quite a bit since you last attended. Selling the land and buildings does not necessarily mean the school is closing. If they use the proceeds to buy a building in another location that is cheaper, they can use the excess profits from the sale to provide better quality teachers, athletic equipment, library books, new computers, and better science lab equipment. A good quality education should matter more to the students and parents than a favourite tree or grassy hillock.
Find out what they intend to do with the proceeds and whether the school is going to be closed as a result; see if you can work together to create a better school for everyone.

We had a company wanting to put up a telephone mast next to a neighbour's house, everyone said we couldn't win but we managed to find a government regulation saying that they weren't allowed to be put up within a certain distance of an airbase (we were near to one). I know this is not quite the same thing but you could have a look into documents regarding the land's use (e.g. if it was donated to the church for church purposes only), you may find something. On the other hand, have you talked to the nuns about whether they are setting up a new school? Have they received much financial support over the years? Have a sit down with them, they must be doing this for what they see as a good reason.

You really have to get a lot of local support in order to keep the school open, assuming the nuns want to keep it open to begin with.
With local support you may be able to get sponsers to help offset the cost of the land that the school sits on.
Like others have said, petition, campaign and get the word out!

you most probably wont >>i have known a large convent some years back and all the nuns worked amongst the public but when the big developers started to talk money the whole 6 acres went like wild fire .where the nuns went I've no idea but to a rich retirement, so you see money will move mountains and in their case money was the all important thing!

If there is an alumni committe contact some in this group . Also is there any possibilty that they could take some of the money and relocate?I went to a very similar type of school and it closed down and I have never gotten over it. We had private voice and horseback riding lessons.

Didnt think nuns would do something like that, they arent suppose to be greedy are they?
Ring your local newspaper get them to do an article about it, the more people that know the more people can join your campaign, kick up as much fuss as possible they should be ashamed of themselves.
