You calculate your ideal weight by aiming for a Body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 to 25. Your body mass index is calculated by dividing your weight in kgs by the square of your height in meters. Anyways there are loads of free BMI calculators online so try one of them and see. According to your height your weight should be between101 to 136 pounds or 45.8 to 61 kg. Somewhere in the middle of those figures should be ideal but can hard to achieve.

It depends on your body composition and level of fitness. I'm 41, 5' 2" and weigh 128lbs. I wear a size 10 and have a body fat % of 18% which puts me on the border between athlete and lean. On a BMI scale I am 24, which is only slightly under the catagory of overweight (25) and yet I am toned, fit and have clear muscle definition. If I wasn't so muscular, I'd need to drop 7-10 pounds to retain the same dress size. In other words, if I was the same weight but had a higher body fat percentage I'd probably be wearing size 12+ clothes at this weight and would consider myself to be too heavy. So weight isn't the most important factor in determining shape. What's important is the composition of the body. The saying muscle weighs more than fat is literally incorrect but is still right in principle. Muscle is more *dense* than fat, so the larger the proportion of your muscle, the smaller your dress size. You can take two people with the same height, sex, age and body weight and one of them can be 'overweight' while the other person is at optimum weight. It's more important, therefore, to concentrate of having a toned, fit physique. Eat well, exercise and your weight will adjust itself accordingly. Ultimately, the most important thing is how healthy you are and how good you look... not what you actually weigh.

What's appropriate, or do you mean what should you be comfortable with? My doc says for my height 5' 2" (and a little bit)should be between 7 and 8 stone. Aye right. I'd personally be happy at 9 and a half.

1 kilogram = 2.204 lbs.
1 lbs. = 0.453 kilograms
Weights at ages 25-59:
Weight according to frame: (in indoor clothing weighing 3 lbs)
If you have small frame then it should be around 108 - 121 lbs. = 49 to 55 kgs.
Medium Frame: 115-129 lbs.= 52 - 58 kg.
LargeFrame = 128-143 lbs. = 58 - 64 kg

if it gets to the stage where airlines demand that you book TWO seats, or alternatively they try and pack you in the overhead lockers, then you've pushed the envelope a little too far in one direction or the other. Otherwise, you're cool.

Anywhere between 100lb and 135lb is perfectly fine. But I'd say a good weight would be between 115lb and 125lb. HTH : )
