ok, we have been together almost two years, have a 7 week old baby girl, trying to get our own place, im the only one working right now. and im the type that goes all out and gets namebrand stuff, expensive jewerly and try to spend money i dont really have when it comes to b-days. her b-day is the 29th and i dont know what to get her, i know i should save since i am the only one right now with a job, for the baby and house. so what should i do. i always get a dozen roses but those die, so i thought i would get 11 roses and one fake one, and a card sayin something like i will love you til all these roses die. then there an engagement ring that i want to buy but i need to save! what do i do?

WOW. the roses idea is perfect. you are extremely sweet. and inventive. really, i'm inspired. its perfect.
and for the engagement ring, just get a normal ring. if she loves you, she doesn't need a 92 carat ring to show off.
for a ring, it'd be really cool to get a tattooed ring. to show undying love and forever marriage. it's what pamela anderson did with one of her marriages, so i read.

Man I like that that idea about the roses! Mind if I use that? As far as the engagement ring goes... thats a different occasion. As far as the B-day goes... I had to really think on this one. Im thinking shes probably in need of a real break from having to take care of a baby while your at work. Maybe just going out to dinner, soft music, candles... the roses, etc. And if you still feel a gift is warrented and dont have alot to spend, maybe a new coat or dress. Definately a massage after you two return home... let the B-day celebration continue well into the night... if you know what I mean. Hope I helped! Charles

First of all, saving for the engagement ring is a great idea. Keep saving so you can buy her a very nice one. I really like the rose idea, its very sweet and romantic. My suggestion to you is to go ahead with the rose plan and also, step back and take a look at what your girlfriend truly needs the most right now, my guess would be that with a 7 week old baby, she is pretty worn out. My suggestion would be that along with the roses you should buy her an hour or two with a massuese or a spa treatment. Something to just totally pamper her for a couple hours- where she doesnt have to worry about the baby, you, or anyone else, she can just pamper herself. Good luck!

That sounds really corny but i'm not a romantic so maybe its gold. doubt it though. Get her something small, its only a birthday. Make her dinner and have a bottle of wine. A cd and a card are fine b'day presents if you cant think of anything cheap she would like. Good luck with the baby girl and house hunting

Michelle B answer is perfect, i'd do that

Save your money. Send her out to a spa for a massage just to show you care how much she does for you and your baby. While she's out make a nice romantic dinner and save th rest toward the engagement ring

it's really sweet of you,,, but then hey!!! you really should've saved for that bcz for us girls, an engagement ring is like hello!!! so important... anyway, flowers will do..in her fave color....except ofcorz if she loves black... if you're gonna put in a note that says that you'll love her til all the roses die, don't put in a fake one... it'll only complicate the meaning.. you can try buying her the simplest things she likes so much... like for example,,that sour candy that makes her feel like the queen of the Gods.. tee hee! you wouldn't also have to spend much on that;;;; if you have alot of pictures, you can buy a big frame, glue all the pictures of her (when she was still a baby, til now) then yours and add your baby's... hope these help,,, if you've got any other clarifications to make regarding my answer just post and i'll answer them if i see it ok? good luck!!

I agree with Michelle. Cooking for her would be so romantic. Also, make a cake for her.....and don't forget, while she is at the spa, WATCH THE BABY for her. She would so appreciate it.

Look, if you do the flower thing, you will HAVE to put a fake flower in it if you leave the note. Flowers die pretty quick, and if you don't have a fake one in there ......just do it

okay, youre the only one working....if things are tight:do som research.ask her mother,siblings,dad,etc...&find out something not everyone(especially you) know about her-and base your gift around that....this will make her cherish the gift forever, put you in great standing w/ her fam., and teach you something new about her as well....ask for stories about her cute child-hood dreams, or just anything that pops up in their minds-..be creative...and wallah!-happiest girl in the world.....and if youre not tight on cash-dothis anyways, and add those roses, and some choc.s too (liked the roses thing-pretty unique)

You have been together for almost two years, and have made a baby together, but you still have to ask perfect strangers what to get her for a gift? Tell me, have you talked to her and gotten to know her at any time during those two years, or has it all just been baby-making practice?
