Hi, 3 things that might help. A moulting comb looks a little like a saw blade that has been bent round into its handle. It is blunt and you swipe over the coat with it as apposed to brushing through the coat. This is used on short haired dogs Dalmatians, labs etc. Works better than a brush.

Second. get a rubber curry comb this looks a little like a rubber stamp with long rubber nodules on. use it in circular motion on the coat first before using the moulting comb. it releases the coat and massages the skin promoting new growth and better circulation too.

Thirdly keep all bedding/ areas clean as if you have gone to all that effort to stop it falling out it will be very annoying if the bits that have already fallen out end up back on the dog. :-)

Short haired dogs are definitely the worst offenders to a hairy house/ life. Hope these things help they are both really cheap to buy and do work a lot better than a brush or comb.
Michelle :-)

Friendly Hello, Boy do I remember this. We use to show Dalmations years ago. This is the season for shedding of your dog. About the only thing that really helps is being consistant with grooming. Take the vaccume and clean up around crate and under things. This will help eliminate some of the hair. If you have access to a high power blow dryer that you can set up out of your home. After a good bath. Dry off with that and it will get a lot of the dead hair off. As you probably already know that Dalmatians are pron to allergies. So you must always be careful with the kinds of shampoos you use plus the food. I dont know if this helps or not. But I sure hope it does. I remember well what you are going through. Blessings, Kelly

I had the same problem with my Lab and it was driving me crazy. No matter how many times a day I brushed him there was hair everywhere. I put him on viatims because I kept hearing a lack of nutrients in their diet could cause excessive shedding, I was still lost because my dogs have always been on the top of the line dog food. I tried every food out there and researched them all. The supplements did not help much and in the end I switched foods and resolved my problem. I switched to Royal Canin Labrador Retriever 30 and reduced my shedding to nothing. The food is especially formulated to address the needs of the coat. I have a Pit Bull that the company reccommended to go on the Boxer 26. For the first time both dogs look amazing, feel great, and are not shedding everywhere. So really check your dog food, it will make a huge difference.

The only remedy is to groom her daily. Get yourself a 'zoom groom', or a rubber hound glove, and groom her outside. The more loose fur you get off in this manner, the less she drops in the house.
Ignore people telling you to feed it this that or the other. Shedding is perfectly normal. Even humans do it which is why you get hair in your hairbrush.Hair isn't permanent. It grows, is shed, and gets replaced with new hair no matter whether it is human or animal.

our vet gave us amedication for our cocker and recommended we add one capsule of odorless garlic in his food a day. Also have dog wipes to wipe him down twice a day. when it is really bad it can be caused by an allergy and the vet can give a limited number of cortisone shots to resolve it,
