There is always a purpose of every creature of Allah the Almighty.
Plants and some animals are created to serve human beings as Quran says.
Heaven or Hell are for those who are given a choice of doing rigth or wrong. Plants and animals are not accountable for these things. There are only two creatures who will go in heaven or hell according to their doings in this world, human and genies.
This is what I think.
There are some harmful animals in this world, which seem useless such as crocodile, snake, lazard etc. but I think these animal have been created with very important purpose of life, to have people feared from the happenings in grave or hell. When we are told that there will be huge lazard ro snake in the grave of bad peopke which will punish that guy till the day of judgement, so we must have a picture of some thing like crocodile.
How had we got feared if we would have even do not know what is snake and lazard or scorpion. Allah the Almighty has shown us these animals and their harms. Now we have a bit idea of what they can do with us if deputed on our graves.
As long as keeping pets is concerned, I think this is not allowed in islam. You can keep only Halal animal for your benefits such as cow, sheep or camel etc.
This is all what I think and it is my own opinion. Please get it confirmed by an islamic scholar.
May Allah the Almighty protect us all from the punishment in grave and afterwards. Aameen

I do not know their purpose, but I do know that the world would be rather drab without them. I believe that animals (and perhaps plants) do not have a soul, but have a spirit. "Should they go to heaven?" Well, that is not for us to decide. I would like heaven to have plants and animals, and since we all get what we want in heaven, I expect there will be some there if I make it.

All plants and animals are our relatives. I have a pet cockatiel and believe me he is his own person. He's a bit of a bully but I can handle it. He has as much of a soul as you or I do. The Book says no, animals won't be in Heaven and of course none of your relatives that have been naughty. This is one reason that I do not believe.
Can you imagine getting 'there' all excited to see your Grandma again...only to be told that she went 'south'...not very heavenly then ...eh?

All the creatures of Earth work together. To keep each other
alive.
I had a cat I had to give to a shelter because I lost my apartment,
and I didn't want to keep him out in the cold any longer. A few
days later, I had a dream. He was laying on a pillow, and I felt warmth. I know he came to me to let me know he was okay.
People say animals have no souls. Maybe not like ours. But
everything is made of spirit, and spirit has intelligence, and it
has emotion.
The book of Job in the Bible says,
"Ask the Earth and it will teach you,
And the birds of the air and they will teach you,
And the fishes of the sea will declare it unto you!"

All living things have a living soul in them. Even plants and animals, whose essences can evolve, and move up the evolutionary ladder. They like us can be reborn and move onto the next plain.

Mine does. It's all a question of evolution.Ultimately you reach the level of humans before proceeding on to merge with God.Ever wondered how certain animals have pleasing traits and some humans are so beastly?

Being an adherent to Buddhist philosophy I see them as part of the oneness of creation, an integral part of the fabric of the universal consciousness like humanity and for that reason they and their environment should be treated with due consideration.

the purpose of plants: By their being becoming complementary to matter, animals and humans - and other plants.
the purpose of animals: By their being with desire to live - becoming complementary to matter, plants, humans - and other animals.
animals have an entity other than their body, which is responsible for their 'desire to live'. you can call it 'soul'.
heaven and hell is a concept made by man, due to the phenomenon he can't explain.

Animals were created to provide us with food. If God had not meant us to eat animals, he wouldn't have made them out of MEAT!
All praise be to Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, and the last TRUE prophet.
Amen!
