Pigeons are prey animals, they make good eatings for carnivores (meat eaters). Those pigeons that do happen to find themselves dead on the streets are quickly snapped up by scavangers, or collected by the local council who have them insinorated(sp?). In the case of roadkill pigeons, most of these are quickly ground into the road by oncoming traffic so after a few hours there is very little left to scrape up.
Pigeons that aren't hit by cars, or killed by preditors, probably die in their roosting places which are usually located on rooftops. They are then consumed by bugs and carrion birds. A few years ago the council replaced a large bill board at the top of my street. When the old billboard was ripped down, several pigeon skeletons came down with it. The random bones and feathers made quite a mess on the street whch the council quickly cleared away. Last winter I spotted a dead pigeon on a pub window ledge in town. It looked like it had died in its sleep.

Some will be taken by foxes, cats etc. I also think that the council street cleaners remove dead animals from the roads.

Maybe it depends on your city council, if they are quick they clean it up, I guess it is possible that another animal gets to it before you...
I have seen a lot of dead birds on the streets... either over run by cars or killed by stupid children...

Most get eaten by foxes at night, First light the magpies will eat any roadkill. If it is still not gone the poor old road sweepers have to pick them up (quite often me) so by the time you leave for work most of them have gone.

They usually return to their nesting places and in towns that's usually the roofs and lofts of big buildings. I have seen tv documentaries (Life of Grime?) where the council employees have to clean out the droppings and the carcasses...
In the wild, in the country, the respondents who said foxes are probably right.

How come birds don't fall from the sky when they die?
How come birds always look for a quiet place to hide?
