A yawn (synonyms chasma, oscitation from the Latin verb oscitare, to open the mouth wide) is a reflex of deep inhalation and exhalation associated with being tired, with a need to sleep, or from lack of stimulation. Pandiculation is the term for the act of stretching and yawning. Yawning is a powerful non-verbal message with several possible meanings, depending on the circumstances. It is also claimed to help increase the state of alertness of a person.
The exact causes of yawning are still unknown.
Causes of yawning
An indication of tiredness, stress, over-work, or boredom.
An action indicating psychological decompression after a state of high alert.
A means of expressing powerful emotions like anger, rejection, apathy, or tedium.
A yawn can express strong anti-social messages, and so in some cultures people try to mute or mask them by placing a concealing hand over the yawning mouth.

Yawning is often linked with tiredness, rigidity, overwork, loss of stimulation and tedium, although cutting-edge examine practice it must be linked to the cooling of the concepts. Yawning could happens whilst one's blood includes extra desirable quantities of carbon dioxide and for this reason will become in prefer of the inflow of oxygen (or expulsion of carbon dioxide) that a yawn supplies you.

If u still have doubt do one experimemt, whenever ur feeling dizziness and yawning lot, start takng deep breath for 3-4 min, yawning will stop immediatly.

Technically, yawing is caused by a lack of air flow in our lungs, and you yawn to make yourself breathe easier. I asked an old teacher about this once, and he said exactly that. It also has NOTHING to do with be sleepy! Go figure.
