because alcohol gives a false sense of being at ease. alcohol blurrs the hard edges of life and gives a false sense of courage. alcohol makes a person forget the problems for awhile but dosen't help resolve them. alcohol is a "tar baby" that once a person gets stuck in it, they can't get out. i should know, i gave up alcohol 20 years ago because i almost killed me

Alcohol numbs the mind. Sometimes problems are just to hard to face. It is sad when people do not have anyone they can confide in and feel they must face the problem alone this leads to drinking. Sometimes people have others to share with but they feel the problem is to hard and they do not want to burden love ones with the pain they feel. All problems are smaller then we believe them to be. I know when we have a problem we sometimes feel it is the end of the world but if we can just get past the pain and trust someone and share our pain it will help make it go away. Alcohol is just a temporary relief, unfortunately when the person discovers it is only temporary they drink more and more and then the alcohol itself becomes a problem
