Royal Marines, SAS/SBS are considered the epitome of military personnel in the world.
The training is a lot tougher and a lot more constant than that of their counterparts anywhere in the world. Forget the US marines, they keep shooting each other and us. Forget the foreign legion, they're made up of foreigners and forget the Russian Spetznatz, they're underpaid and underfed.
The whole point of the Royal Marines training isn't to get you fitter. It's to weed out the wasters and the people who would slow down the rest of the team and it does so very effectively.
For example, they have to carry out a 9 mile speed march carrying full battle kit (14.5kg of equipment) over rough terrain in 90 minutes.
They then have to do an 10 mile endurance run, complete with underwater swimming and marksmenship tests in battle order and complete that in 73 minutes.
The final test is the 30 mile hike, carrying the fighting kit of 14.5kg plus the additional weight of the bergen (big heavy rucksack) and safety kit. Troopers have to complete this in 8 hours, officers have to complete it on their own in 7 hours.

Very very fit! can you clump for 15 miles with 180lbs field service marching order? How are you in the mud? good? How about South Wales up and down the peaks in freezing cold weather running, good? hows your endurance? up to scratch? Miss yer mum much? Like the easy life? No? If you can take punishment equal to that, then join the Marines pal, and good luck to you.

when applying for the marines they will give to a training programme, this will get you fit enough, but you should be able to run 8 miles, do 60 pressups, 100 situps, good at rope climbing, and also mentally fit and prepared to take alot of sh*t.
