how do you discipline your teenage son/daughter whose on drugs, goes out everyday, steals from you, has bad grades, is into porn sex, wants to drop out of school etc...with all these controls on punishment we can't do anymore;
1- Can't give them a spanking anymore like our parents used to in the 60's.
2- Can't shout at them in public otherwise someone will call social services on you.
3- Can't withhold money from them, otherwise they could call social services and accuse you of 'sexually abusing them' or 'harrassing them'.
Ps: my eldest kid is 5 so not there yet, and hope never, but am just curious how parents are holding up with these kind of kids? any advice.

1. Yes you can, just don't leave marks or bruises.
2. Yes you can, just don't call them degrading names.
3. Yes you can. The only thing parents are legally required to do is provide food, clothing and shelter. My husband and I decided together that if one of our children steals from us, we will have them arrested and press charges. If our children get involved in drugs, we will do our best to help them but if they won't accept it then they're on their own. Dropping out of school is not an option. They know that if they drop out of school then they will be sent back to live with their Mother. We encourage them to do their best in school so that they can have a future but we can't make them. If, when our kids get older and go out all of the time and forget their responsibilities then I would wait until they were in the shower and take all of their clothes and lock them up in the trunk of my car. That way they wouldn't be able to leave the house because all they would have is one pair of underwear and a robe. Our children know all of this because we have told them time and again what we expect and what the consequences would be. Some parents don't know or take the time to find out what their states laws are regarding child abuse and discipline. Some use that lack of knowledge as an excuse not to discipline their children and then complain when their children head down the wrong path. It doesn't take that much effort to go online and find out this kind of information. That's what I did.

The disipline should start when they are in diapers not when they are 16. I think you should give a good dose of reality to teenagers who misbehave take them to the police station and let them look at cells . Tell them see this is what ppl get when they steal. Take them a few times to court and let them see what happens to ppl who do bad things go. They used to have a program here in the united states called scared straight. Kids who got in trouble would go supervised to a prison and the prisoners would talk to them and show them what life was like behind bars. I wish they still had that program. But some whimpy senator thought it was a bad thing and they deemed it unconstitutional. Bullcrap !!! I thought it was the best things for them to see.

You can whoop your kids still, just not too far. Also 3 is stupid and if they steal from you, smack them and be like whats wrong with you boy. On the other hand, you could encourage more Porn Sex to try and make them stop doing the others.
