Not all whightening creams are bad for you... except those that have mercury.

Mercury is an element that helps whiten skin FAST but it has teratogenic effects on pregnant women.

Some over the counter products have a compound with mercury in them so please read before you buy it. Bleaching soaps are an example of a mercury containing whitening project but not ALL of them, READ.

Most of the products currently out in the market are safe, but do not mix sunlight with exfoliating! And use only 1 product. you can use moisturizers on dry areas, because whightening products tend to dry some areas of your body where you apply them.

side effects of topically applied skin whiteners will include allergies, pruritus, erythema and the like.

do not take whitening pills... which are not approved by the FDA because most of these are toxic to the kidneys and liver.

hmmm.... the good side of being dark is that you have more melanin. melanin helps protect you from UV light making you less susceptible to skin cancer... but then again different people like different things... it's your choice...

The stuff doing the work in peeling creams is usually acids, eg. glycolic (AHA/PHA) being the most common. Those that are for cosmetic use and below 15% concentrations should be save for use. You've gotta know what you're doing for 20% or more concentrations. These are more effective for wrinkles, scars and uneven skin tones.
As for whitening, the active ingredient is usually hydroquinone that inhibits the formation of melanine, which makes the skin dark in the sun. A small concentration used from a reputable brand should yield gradual improvement.

Yes on those who do aggressive skin peeling. Once the sun hits the raw peeled skin it burns and gets darker and uneven toned. Especially the areas that are close to bones like nose, cheeks and chin. Others blister. But with safe skin whitening serums? None. Fake glutathione tablets? Headaches, weight gain and acne.

Be wary of the skin whitelning creams as it is not very safe to play with the skin.

These type of creams are nothing but bleaches which take the pigmentation out of the skin to make you light coloured.

If your skin is very senstive you can get vitiligo out of using these creams, ( vitiligo is a lack of skin pigmentation in certain areas of the skin.)

I was going to say what pinky said.
It might be a better idea to ask yourself why you want whiter skin to start with. It's crazy........people with white skin spend thousands making it darker and people with dark skin spend thousands making it lighter. Both are harmful.
Maybe we should just all swap genes.....

And Biscuit, I resent being called an idiot..as I take it I'm one of the people you are referring to.
God.....sometimes I don't know why I bother trying to answer stupid questions with some hope of helping people.....
