You will find no evidence in scripture of Jesus or the disciples baptising children making them Christians. Jesus said to his the crowds come and follow me. a baby wouldn't have that capacity to make a decision to follow Jesus. This I believe is a tradition of men which Jesus warned people about. He told some deeply religious men you make God's word of no effect by your traditions.Mathew 15:6 Those who teach infant baptism are very unclear about the message of salvation. Jesus cleally taught unless you are born again you will not enter inot heaven. As a former altar boy with a brother who was going through to be a priest I never in all the years I atended church hear any mention to being born again, curious since Jesus said you needed this to go to heaven. Jesus explained this was a spiritual birth that needed to occur. How is this accomplished? By turning from sin and believing that Jesus died to pay the price for our sin. In the old testament the high priests would yearly slay a lamb in obediance to instruction from God,and the sins of the people were put on this sheep. When Jesus came he said he was the Lamb of God who came to take away the sins of the world. It is by believing he is the son of God and that he died for your sins and rose again we believe we are saved. This is a gift from God. It cannot be earned by being good. Being good is great and to be deisred it just can't get you into heaven. How would you know when your goodness out weighed any bad deeds. On top of that if we could be good enough to get into heaven Jesus would never had to have come and died. Ehphesians 2:8&9 says for by grace are you saved through faith and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God not of works lest any man should boast. Jesus never taught that belonging to a church saves a person or that becase your parents believe that makes you a believer. There is no mention of God having grandchildren only children. as for choosing a denomination...lol it can be a bit trcky. Give much prayer and ask specifically for wisdom in choosing a good church. Try and find a good bible beieving and teaching church, and don't b afraid to try a few out. If you find you don't get anything out of one try another. I wouldn't stay in a church that I wasn't getting anyting out of. Also one last thing there are some churches out there such as Mormon's who claim to be Christian yet teach things that are totally contrary to what Jesus taught. Things such as men can become God and that God was once a man who had a flesh and blood body. The bible teaches God is Spirit and those who worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. Nobody is born a Christian. The religion of your parents may shape your spiritual development, but ultimately it is you that decides how you want to live your life. Being born again is referring to a spiritual rebirth. Being a Christian has nothing to do with your parents, it has to do with whether or not you accept Jesus Christ into your life to be your saviour. If this is something you are interested in doing, or have questions about... talk to someone about it. A pastor, friends, or maybe your parents. As for the denomination... ask around, see what feels right for you. There's is no one particular denomination that is better than the other, and I actually prefer non-denominational churches. Whatever you decide, know that what defines your worship is not what building you are in, or what songs you are singing... it's what's in your heart.

No, being born to Christian parents does not make you a Christian. That is a personal decision that each one of us has to make.

Many churches practice baptism for infants - a little sprinkling on the head and that supposedly "saves" the child - making him/her a Christian. Sorry, but WRONG! The Bible says that Baptism is a sign of a public confession of faith. A baby being sprinkled in church has not yet reached the age of accountability and does not have the capacity to make that choice. Jesus himself was Baptized by TOTAL IMMERSION when he was an adult. He was not Baptized as a child.

Read the Bible for the answers you seek. If you are honestly searching for God and praying for His will for your life, He will lead you where you need to be. He can show you the truth through his word and through people He will place in your life much more than anyone here in this forum can do.

Hope this helps a little! God bless you on your journey to Him!

Most Protestants would say "No - you need to excercise personal faith to be counted a Christian." Most Catholics will say "as long as you were baptised as an infant, you are."

I think the more important question is, "are you saved if both your parents are saved." Personally, I beleive that an infant or small child who has not reached the age of accocuntability, is saved if one or both parents are saved. But once the child reaches the age of accountability (when he or she can clearly tell right from wrong - some think this is at 8, some think 13), then that child should be given every opportunity to come to faith on is/her own.

No one is born a Christian, they are converted to it from whatever they were before (athiest, Jew, secular, etc)

Different denominations have different views as to what is required for being "born again". But its usually agreed upon that some sort of baptism is included.

I guess one chooses a denomination based on what you agree with. If a certain denomination has certain beliefs, activies, view point or something of intrest, then that's usually what a person picks.

Nope sorry. You can't ride into heaven on anne's coat tails. God gave us each a choice as to whether we wanted to follow him or not. At the age of accountability what ever that may be--there is conterversy over that one--then you have to decide for yourself. But parents play an important role in teaching the children about living a Godly life, and the pros of choosing him, and the cons of not choosing him. As that I am a mother of 5 children I try to may God the most important thing in our house hold. I monitor what the kids whatch, we pray together, read together, and have open discussions. I only pray that I will do a good job of teaching them. Hope this answer helps.

Just because ur parents consider themselves "Christians" doesn't make u a Christian. U have to choose to be a follower of Christ (Christian) on ur own. Baptism is a symbol of dying and of being born again. If u r immersed into the waters fully by an authorized priesthood holder u die spiritually then upon rising from the depths of the water (death) u r born again spiritually and take up[on u the name of Jesus Christ (Christian). U ask of God what church u should belong to and He will direct ur path.

Absolutely NO.
To become a Christian one must make a profession of faith personally. It is a personal decision. Everyone around you can be Christian, and you are not.
At some point in life a person must willfully choose Jesus to be
his or her saviour.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
By the same token one may choose a denomination or not.
Usually one will go to the denomination of their family or peers.
But this is not mandatory.

Usually the children follow in the religion of the parents. Some Christians believe that a baby must be christened to get into Heaven.
Baptism is a sign that the individual accepts God.
I think many people choose a denomination out of convenience. It is the church of their parents or spouse or friends. Or it is close to their home. It's members are part of a particular desirable social group.

No, for when you are a certain age you are accountable to the law. It is your decision and yours alone to serve the lord our god. And denominations, nothing, read your bible and speak to god, he will guide you to a ministry of his choosing, lean not on your understanding. For there are many false prophets in these last days, there are many denominations but only one path to heaven.
and unless you are born again, you can not enter the kingdom of heaven. To be born again is too give every thing to the lord Jesus Christ, your thoughts, your strength, your wisdom, and all that you are can only be from the Lord Jesus Christ. You must deny yourself, pick up your cross and follow me(Jesus).
