This is the verse:

004.016 “If two persons among you are guilty of lewdness, punish them both. IF THEY REPENT and amend, Leave them alone; for Allah is Oft-returning, Most Merciful”. And also a male fornicator can marry a female fornicator; this Ayah should have been applied in this case. 024:003 “The fornicator shall not marry any but a fornicatress or idolatress, and (as for) the fornicatress, none shall marry her but a fornicator or an idolater; and it is forbidden to the believers.

Dear asker. the punishment for adultry whether married or unmarried in Islam is 100 lashes. stoning was the law from the torah used before the verse about 100 lashes was revealed, hence when a man and woman who had committed adultry approached the holy prophet (SAW) they were stoned to death according to the previous laws. Islamic punishment is 100 lashes, but some Muslims choose to disobey God the Almighty and continue to follow the previous law. if you want further proof read this- [24:4] The adulterer (or fornicator) shall not marry but an adulteress (or fornicatress) or an idolatrous woman, and an adulteress (or fornicatress) shall not marry but an adulterer (or fornicator) or an idolatrous man. That indeed is forbidden to the believers. >>God says the adulterers marry amongst themselves, so once they are dead, how exactly do they marry? The doors of repentence are always open. and remember asker, the essence of the punishment of 100 lashes is not even to hurt or kill people, it is to shame the sinners and show society that this is a shameful act and ensure it does not spread widely in the society. Peace love for all, hatred for none.

That's why I'll leave America if it ever becomes a theocracy. When religious leaders decide that killing someone for disobeying "God's law" is OK, and distort or ignore their own scriptures to satisfy their need to impose their will, it destroys the very heart and purpose of religion in the first place.

And yes, I oppose the death penalty, even for mass murderers. Murder is murder. Here come about 10 thumbs down for me ;)

God save us all!

it is wrong that Taliban used stoning -- which is not a punishment in Islam but it was Law of Torah -- in Islam it is 100 flogs or strpies and after which they person SHOULD GIVE CHARITY, FAST AND REPENT TO GOD.

how did stoning -- which was Pre-Islamic Law -- came into Islam? it comes from here --The most accepted collection of Hadith Sahih al Bukhari has 4 entries under 3829, 8804, 8805 and 8824 which refer to stoning by death. The case under 4829 involved JEWS who were stoned to death in accordance with the Law of the Torah. 8805 says: "A married man from the tribe of Bani Aslam who had committed illegal sexual intercourse and bore witnesses four times against himself was ordered by the Prophet (s.a.s.) to be stoned to death".

here u can clearly see that the people IN QUESTION WERE JEWS and it was aLAW OF TORAH TO BE STONED TO DEATH NOT OF ISLAM. when they asked prophet Muhammed-pbuh, he said FOLLOW THE LAW OF TORAH, but years later muslim men incorporated this as a rule in Islam. so who should be blamed? Islam, Allah, Qu'ran, Muhammed-pbuh or the stupid followers?

I NEVER SUPPORT anything -- be it killing , stoning or lashing or electric canes/chair or transforming prisoners to guinea pigs for med experiments -- for i beleive that we all may escape the eyes of man and man-made laws, but not the Eyes of God.
