how many of you believe that the expression "Son of God", is an analogical term. It indicates origin, a close association, or identification. In Christian theology it describes the relationship of two persons of the triune God. It expresses an intimate relationship between two persons: God the Father, and God the Son.
What does this term - "Son of God" mean to YOU? And if Jesus is the Son, in what way is Jesus God's Son? Did God have physical relations with Mary and get her pregnant?.
I have no religion but I believe in God and Jesus Christ, and I believe that the expression "Son of God", is an analogical term. so please do not explain anything to me, I just want to know your opinions about the term "Son of God".

No, the term 'son of God' is NOT allegorical. Though, in the case of Jesus, God was Jesus' father through the impregnation of Mary, true sonship of God comes at the time of impregnation through the holy spirit. Again, Jesus always had the holy spirit, but Christians don't receive it until baptism -- at which time they become sons of God as well.

How absurd. Of course God didn't have "physical relations" with Mary. Please. Now how would that make sense? God is the creator of all. He can do anything. He just makes things happen. He has no physical needs nor want. It isn't that way at all. God is The Holy Spirit.
He is also Jesus. I don't know how and that is why they call it faith - but Jesus is a part of God, in human form who was sent to earth to die for our sins. Jesus is the son of God. There is no other way to describe it. He was born unto Mary, she was chosen because she was most worthy, and He was sent here to save us all.
A major part of any religion is having faith. We do not question why or how. We just know. We do not need to be convinced because we know this is true - that is what makes us Christians. We know that God sent Jesus to earth, as a human form of God, who could live, eat, breathe, and feel just like any other human. He was brought to this earth to take on our pain. The price for our sins is death, but instead of us dying and going straight to Hell for them, Jesus came in and died on the cross so that we would have a chance to ask for forgiveness. As long as you believe that Jesus was God's son, sent to Earth to take the weight of the world on his shoulders, to die on the cross for us and our sins so that we may have a chance to go to heaven, then you too will go to heaven.

It sounds like it's basically away to imply that other people are wrong, or less "good" at being Christian. It also sounds like, from some of these answers, many "Bible Believing Christians" don't know a whole lot about how the Bible was compiled. I think it's either redundant, or it's meant to self aggrandize. Could you imagine some one typing "non-Bible believing Christian"?

Son of god means flesh of man with the spirit of the lord our god inside. To me it means that he came into flesh from his heavenly throne, impregnated Mary with a body which he would use to speak directly to use, no longer by prophets or behind a veil. God is with us, God is with us, the son of god, is the lord our god and only those who know him, know that to be fact.
Your sons will prophecy and your daughters will see visions and dream dreams, no longer is just a few saved but any who call upon the name of god, Jesus is the father, the father is Jesus, they are one, that is what i was taught, that is what i believe, and no not by man, by god.

It means quite literally "Son of God". Jesus is the "only begotten in the flesh". How this was achieved, I don't know. It doesn't have to mean that god had sex with Mary. It could have been IVF or something similar, who knows. The three-in-one God theory that originated with the Nicene create is entirely non-biblical.

i'm not a christian... i'm an atheist. however, i have an awful lot of catholic doctrine in me from my suinday school days. if i remember it correctly, jesus said he was the son of god, and followed it up quite often with the comment that we were all god's children. i think he never claimed to be anything more than a human being. all the rest is hype designed to fuel what is a very profitable business - the church.

I believe as do most Christians that the Holy Spirit came in contact with Mary, Spiritually(not Physically) and she received the
Word of God which made her pregnant, physically. If this doesn't make sense to you, that's right. Its not sense its faith.
Spiritual Laws supersede natural laws.
