Dear Friend, Hello! To avoid loneliness make some good friends wherever u are and try not to remain alone.Make internet friends if u cant make locals.Make urself busy in your work at work and when at home , do domestic tasks on urself so that u dont have any time to think.Try doing meditation if u can.U can concertrate on ur breathing sound . It is very esay concentraion excercise to calm down ur mind.

I was in the same boat! Go to a site like expatica.com and see if there are events with other expats anywhere, or an English bookstore and see if they have any interesting groups. To meet locals, try taking a class at a local university, or, my trick, go to a cool-looking restaurant and ask the staff the best places to hang out. They are usually up on the best spots, and may even invite you along. Good luck!

If you're a caucasian male working in Asia, loneliness will be your last concern.
But if your source of loneliness comes from missing your family or you're female and is afraid of the many stares you will get when you walk into a manwhore place, then perhaps you should get a pda with msn or pick up a new hobby.
Get involved in more of the local community activities could help solve your prob too. Staying indoors with your xbox and dvds won't help much.

It will be there think of olden days with your friends and family and expect that will be there in future also, it is only temporary. try to chat with your friends and family. practice habbit of readig spiritual books.make friends over there and mingle & share with them.
