ok, I am trying to partition my hard drive to have 2 operating systems. I am using a trial edition of Paragon Partition Manager 8.0. I've created several new partitions that were different but they never too effect/they were gone when i clicked apply changes. Please provide step-by-step instructions on how to partition my hard drive using Paragon Partition Manager 8.0

Don't tell me to buy software, because i'm not going to do that. I only have one hard drive and I will not buy another one.

The current operating system is Windows ME and I want to put XP on it. I don't want to hear that Windows ME sucks, I already know but I have to keep it for certain reasons.

Ok, i tried the partitioning from the XP cd. It said to create a new partition in the unpartitioned space press C. (it said something like that) I pressed C and nothing happened. I tried this several times and it didn't work.

OK, first of all, let me tell you that in all the Trial Versions of the Paid Partition Managers, the "Apply" function is disabled. Who'd buy the Partition Manager if they'd been stupid enough to let you have this facility? All that these "Trial" versions are are bait!

The fun of it all is that all these "Partition Managers" are GUI Skins and fancy graphics using the free of cost tool that Mikhail Ranish made long ago, which is included even in the Windows Installation Package! And the original Partition Manager is just 56 KB!

You can save it in a file and run it from your own comp. You'll need to do a bit of work though, because it runs on DOS. Get your free copy from http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Utilities/Disk_Maintenance_and_Repair_Utilities/Ranish_Partition_Manager.html

All the best.

Cheers

ok as far as i remember such kind of partition prog in trial version don't allow to apply changes to you hd, i mean they won't do anything with the HD untill you buy it:(

as for me i use disk director from acronis, it's a common partiition prog, but it has some additional utilities like os selector, which allows you to install as many os's as you like and don't bother on how do i install them and in what way, the other very useful utility is recovery expert, it helped me once very much when i accedentally deleted partition from disk management utility in windows.

run the winxp setup and ask it not to remove the previous operating system. i.e specify different location for the system file to copy.
