For all of the "quick and easy" weight loss diet pill suggestions, remember, if something sounds too good to be true... it probably is, particularly if you have to pay for it.

On Yahoo!Answers I find certain questions being asked repeatedly which is simply a reflection of new people participating. A couple of common question amounts to "How do I lose weight," or more specifically, "How do I lose abdominal fat?" I have gotten very positive responses from my answers when I paused to reply (and now beginning to get "It works!" emails that are very gratifying. I like helping people)... so have recently decided to put a good solid answer on my Yahoo!360 Blog (September 10) that I can point people to. These are my thoughts as a physician and athlete.

Don't target losing more than about 2 lbs per week. If you try to lose faster, your body will go into "starvation mode" and get very stingy about burning calories while at the same time very efficient about storing any calories that you do provide. And it will make you feel awful.

There is no site specific way of losing fat... the old myth about working your abs to burn belly fat isn't true. To get rid of love handles, you need to lose overall fat. That happens with exercise and watching your diet. More on that below.

The most effective way to lose fat is aerobic exercise in the "moderate" fat-burning range, ideally first thing in the morning before you eat. When you wake your body is ready to burn fat and your levels of growth hormone are highest at that time. Later in the day it can take up to 30 minutes just to put your body into a fat-burning mode.

Another overlooked way to burn fat is by lifting weights. Skeletal muscle has very high caloric needs... almost twice that of adipose (fat) tissue. Put on a little muscle and you will burn calories all day even at rest. Be aware that skeletal muscle weighs more, so with this approach you may see your weight increasing while your body fat is melting away. Not realizing this often stresses folks who think they should be losing weight as a measure of fitness. Forget the scale, look in the mirror and you will be happy.

To lose a pound of fat, you need to eliminate about 3500 calories. You can do this by burning more with exercise or by modifying your diet to reduce intake. If you do a Google search on say, "swimming calories" you will quickly find a website with tables of calories burned for a given exercise. You can use such lists to estimate how many calories you are burning up with your routine.

For diet, keep a diary for a couple of weeks counting calories, grams of protein, and grams of fat intake. It is easy with online sources of nutritional information (type the name of the food and calories into the Google search engine) and packaging labels. That will let you quickly figure out where the fat is coming from in your diet.

Fat gives you 9 calories per gram. So take the number of grams of fat, multiply by 9, then calculate what percentage the fat calories are of your total daily calories. Restricting the calories from fat to about 20% of your total intake is ideal for a maintenance diet... that isn't overly restrictive. Of note, you need some fat in your diet. For instance, the body uses fat to produce hormones. Once you have a picture of how to modify your diet, you can drop the diary and just go back to it occasionally if you are wanting to tweek things further.

There is a subset of questions that goes further and asks about "How to get a six-pack?" The answer is the same. Six-packs are 20% abdominal exercise and 80% diet. There is one caveat... abdominal muscles will form in the position that you work them, so be certain to pull them tightly toward your spine while doing crunches, etc. Also, during most lifting, the "core is active" which means that you should be stabilizing with contracted abs then too. Fail to do this and the abs will form, but bulging outward and the result is not attractive.

If you are trying to build muscle as a way to lose fat, then you may need to increase total calories and specifically your protein intake. I target about 0.8 g of protein per pound of body weight each day when actively building. That is far more protein than most people need in their diets.

Hey sweets, The best way to lose weight i've found is to just make small changes in your life, for example instead of eating 3 big meals throughout the day, have 5 or 6 fistful size meals/snacks, this will speed up you metabolism and keep your energy up. Make sure they're healthy though and not pre packaged as most pre packaged foods contain a lot of salt/sugar. Eat more fruit, vegetables and nuts and try not to eat after about 6 o'clock. You also should exercise, nothing too intense to begin with, maybe start by walking around the block everyday then make it twice a day, you can step it up after a while to a jog then when you feel ready you can run. Also swimming is great fun and helps tone your body whilst burning fat. Good luck :)

Sadly, there is no "fast" way to lose weight. Eat smart, drink 8 glasses of water a day, drink 3 glasses of milk a day, and excercise. If you are already doing that just have patience. Remember, muscle eighs more than fat, so if you are doing some weight training you may be gaining muscle mass. This is a good thing though. Lean muscle burns calories!! Just have patience. It's hard to stay away from the scale, I know. But step on it only every two weeks, instead of every other day or so.

Hope this helps.

To lose weight, a person has to reduce the calorie intake by some amount by modifying their diet. A diet without sufficient nutrients will only increase the appetite of the person trying to lose weight. Since most people combine a diet with an exercise plan, additional nutrients are required for the growth of muscles required to increase the metabolic rate required for long term weight loss. I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

Try a cleansing diet! I did and lost 10.5 pounds and 17 inches in only 9 days. I was very happy with the results and continued on the program and lost 25 pounds in 5 weeks. This is the fastest I have ever lost with other diets like Jenny Craig, Weight Watchers, Medifast, Slimfast etc…. Cleansing works by removing toxins from your body. You get toxins from your food (pesticides, preservatives, food additives, colorings) water, chemicals, pollution, medications, alcohol, hormones that the animals you eat were fed etc….YUCK! The toxins get coated with fat and remain in your body. To remove the fat, you have to remove the toxins. This system worked for me, maybe it can work for you too. You can check out the website or call this toll free number 1-877-587-4647 for more info. The program is not cheap, but it is worth every penny since it works and keeps you motivated. Good luck!

It is actually dangerous to lose weight quickly. You might end up losing water in your body than cutting weight from your flesh hanging around. Its actually better to lose weight through a period of time, like 1 month. The recommended way is to have a balanced with excerise. 5 days a week for at least 20mins per session. Lastly, do it in a sensible way. Do not starve yourself as you might end up getting heavier, eating more in other meals.

You should try Forever Living Products. They do a very good 9-Day diet plan. My partner and myself tried it and found it fantastic .We still use a lot of their other products, which are very good for general health. There are two ways to acquire these products One is you must know a distributor, as they are not available in shops. The other is to get singed up by a distributor so you can buy the products direct from the company. This makes most sense, as you then get them for 30% cheaper. Check out www.aloedistributor.com or www.flpireland.com or www.foreverlivingproducts.com If you want to get in touch directly with the company give them my dist no = 000 353 0000 19886. My name is Frank Woods from Dublin, Ireland and just tells them I said you could sign under me. That way you get to buy direct. Best of luck. Any problems please e-mail me at frankwoodsflp@eircom.net there is no charge to register with this company. Frank.

hi
This plan really worked for me so here goes,
If you are serious about losing weight, the calories in the food you eat should be less than the energy you use. You will have to increase your metabolic rate now, and plan your diet carefully.
Formulate your own weight loss plan and you will lose weight faster. More details available at http://tinyurl.com/m7ckx

There is new diet going on in my office.

Jusr eat oats , ie. cereal oats, warm or cold up to you. Nothing else OK, if you can replace it with 3 meals a day that's the best, see how long you can sustain.
