I get depressed sometimes and I hate myself. I have a habit of cutting (which I'm trying to quit) I feel like I need to do something to cope/ make myself feel better (or mainly to punish myself) but I don't want to do anything to ruin my body anymore. I feel like holding off now will only make me fall harder in the end. what should I do?

this will help. find a time each day, walk alone for 30 min. as you walk think about things that trouble you. after a few weeks you will look forward to these walks and it will seem like a natural event. when you become overwhemed take an additional short walk,10 minutes or so. these walks will become a high point in your day and serve to address your concerns. you might consider see a doctor or a pastor. the Stephen ministry might be useful, there is no cost and basically you meet once a week for an hour with a trained person that believes that by listening ,caring and helping you understand your feelings that with the help of God one may become whole again. many churchs have this service available. they wont tell you what to do or ask anything of you.

It'll be hard at first, but get professional help. You may not like the sound of it, but it will help you to feel better. You have the right to be happy, and getting a counselor or therapist will aid you in achieving it.

There are other ways to get the relief of cutting without actually cutting. For example, you can snap a rubber band against your wrist (or wherever it is that you cut) or hold an ice cube in your hands (this will give you the pain without the physical scarring). Cutting is habit forming, so try to replace it with something else if you are unwilling or feel unable to stop.

I don't know your age, but talk to someone - if you're middle-high school age, talk to a teacher that you trust. They will be able to refer you to a counselor or psycologist when you are ready, and you will always know where to find them. If you're older than that, go to someone you trust like a family member or friend, and ask them to assist you in finding someone to aid you. In the event that you feel distant from those who might help you or are unwilling to seek assistance in finding help, find it for yourself. Look up therapists or counselors in your community, and set up an appointment to talk to one of them. The first appointment will be uncomfortable (because you don't know the person) but keep with it for a few more sessions (you will come to trust and treasure them. If you don't, try another counselor).

People are out there for you.
They care.

Make the dua "Rabbi Zidna Ilama(n)" after every salat. Don't be disheartened because of your poor performance at the College. Graduation and obtaining degree certificate from a college is not the criteria of success in human life. Academic education is not a must for success in this world. There are several persons who cannot even put their signature, yet they are millionnaires. May Allah bestow you a loving and caring husband who will try to remove your stress and strain.

The cutting concerns me. That goes beyond just regular "blues". See a psychologist or your family doc for a referral. Don't hold it in and suffer needlessly. You could be repressing a memory of a trauma sustained earlier in your life. Don't wait, get some help and take care of yourself.

yeah- the guy that thinks you need more sex is an idiot. why do you hate yourself? get off on yourself. get to like yourself. stop listening to bulllshit about the way you think you should be. define your own self. I am weird and i know it, love it and accept it. If you were abused then you need counseling. get a vibrator. that is not harmful to your body. cutting your self is just dumb. dont punish yourself with cigarettes or drugs. how often do you laugh - even if it is at yourself?

Talk to your family about being depressed and hating yourself. Maybe a visit to a specialized doctor is needed.

You should just calm down and go to a doctor and talk about yuor problems. I know it feels like you are unusual but its your habit so try not to worry and talk to someone you trust about it. I'm sure they will understand.

Good Luck and try not to be too depressed.

I hope you get well soon.

talk to someone you trust. a close friend maybe. try to be open and not keep it all inside. it would also be healthy if you go out with friends and enjoy your time. don't cut yourself. it will only leave scars that would remind you how terrible things were with you. everyday is a new day, live it well.
