The shoe rubs against your foot. It shouldn't happen with new shoes if they are properly fit. To prevent it: make sure you wear socks, make sure your shoes fit correctly, you can put some Dr. Scholes Mole skin on areas of your foot that are prone to get blisters.

it happens because new shoes are stiff and rub in places your old shoes have streached out to fit, maybe your shoes are just too small, wear the plasters and deal with it, or wear panty hose.
