If they gained citizenship because of amnesty, yes. Amnesty means that their law-breaking allowed them to prosper. They would not have to answer for their transgressions of the law. I can't do that in this country. They also would be free of the burden of paying back taxes. All those billions that they have recieved tax free all the while getting benefits from the government.
The only legalization program that would be right is the one that every other immigrant has had to participate in. It is only fair that if one has do it, then everybody should have to. Doing it any other way shows that if enough people break the law, then the law doesn't exist. Sounds like the beginning stages of anarchy.
How about since there are so many crack addicts in the country, let's just make it legal or give them amnesty for smoking crack? If the ones that do it now come forth and sign up, they can smoke it and buy it whereever and whenever they want.

Personally, I don't hate them now - I blame our government for not enforcing the laws for so many years and thereby giving the impression that it is "okay" to come on in illegally and allowing this problem to reach the ridiculous proportion that it has by now. I don't believe amnesty should be offered and I would never be in favor of that, but if it should happen, then I would have to accept it and hope that we can vote out the government representatives who would do this idiotic thing again, when it has proven in the past that amnesty has only ever made the problem of illegal immigration worse than it was before amnesty. I think it is bad for there to be any hint given to illegal immigrants that amnesty may be given because it offers them a hope that may well be dashed, as I hope it is. I prefer a hard stance against illegal immigration and I do not agree with rewarding illegal immigration. However, to that end, I believe the government has to stop pussy-footing around and start enforcing ALL of our immigration laws and hit the employers hard and stop all forms of incentives to illegal immigrants such as social benefits, education, medical, etc. I believe that if there is a problem with the red tape of legal immigration, perhaps there needs to be a revamping there, but in the meantime I do not think illegal immigrants who are here now should be given a free ticket. I believe the fence needs to be built asap. I believe that the temporary worker program needs to also be revamped to speed things up there, however employers need to provide the extra benefits to these workers so they do not get them from social services and they should not be allowed to bring other family members into the USA while they are here on a temporary work visa. I do not believe that things should be changed to give preferential treatment to future immigrants from Mexico, but to allow more fair immigration from ALL countries. I also strongly believe that there should NOT be anchor babies - in order for a baby to receive American citizenship, I think that it should have at least one parent who is a legal American citizenship.

Thank you for asking for my opinion!

I do not "Hate" anyone, including the illegal aliens.
Your wish full thoughts of full amnesty will never happen, there may be a form of legalization and if its a fair one to both this country's legal citizens as well as the illegal.I could accept that I think. Some thing like a work pass or permit, where they must pay all taxes like all of us do,and not have to become legal unless they chose to,some don't want that I know.Something of that nature would perhaps be acceptable to legal Americans. But not Amnesty!

Why is it that people want the easy way out. The legalization program should be that they take the steps to become legal citizens of this country. What about the term "illegal"aliens do you not understand? I would not expect to waltz into any other country demand rights and benefits wave my American flag and insist that the whole country stand up and take notice of me and how I am bleeding their country dry by taking advantage of programs that citizens of that country have a hard time obtaining. If you took the legal steps to citizenship, embraced becoming an American citizen and learned to speak English and became a productive member of our society then we have no problem. I don't want to learn Spanish so I stay out of Mexico. I would never expect to move there and expect the whole country to cater to me because I didn't want to learn the language. I hate getting flyers in the mail where it is half in Spanish and half in English or my kids reports from school usually have a page in the envelope with the exact same information in Spanish. What a waste of our school's money to have to print everything twice because parents don't want to learn English. It infuriates me that we voted to make English the official language in California and yet we still have billboards and flyers in Spanish. Most of the jobs in the medical industry in Los Angeles won't hire you unless you are bilingual in English and Spanish.Get Legal and learn Frickin' English!!

We should reward criminal acts by giving the criminals what they want to begin with?? I think not.

Hell, why not give a new car to the car jacker? Or a day care to the pedophile? You silly, silly little person. Really, is that a valid argument? Nope. Just a poor "solution" to what is currently the issue. And do we do it again in another 20 years (do we forget about the amnesty granted in 1986?)? How did the last one do for curing the illegal immigration problem?

NOTHING!! It will not stop until we make them follow the law! Giving them amnesty will not do that - deporting and making is harder to get what they want in this country (jobs, housing) is the way to go. Sorry to rain on your parade. . .

No this is not about hate or race as much as some might want you to believe. That is all bull. This is about the legality of it and making sure we know WHO is coming in our country. There needs to be a process that screens and even tests people before they come in here. We dont need any more diseases, gangs, or terrorists and its only right to make sure we dont just open the flood gates to anyone who wishes to be here.

They are ILLEGAL ALIENS.... nothing else we can call them except CRIMINALS..... hate has nothing to do with it....

NO matter what is done to stab America in the back.... amnesty or what ever, I will still consider the bastards as CRIMINALS and TERRORISTS... because that is what they are.... their spots don't change because their names or status change.... they will still be criminals....

NO AMNESTY, NEVER.... no legalization of any kind... they are criminals.... I know the truth is hard to take, but there it is...

I don't hate them now. The illegal side has always been my gripe on the issue, so yes, I would favor them doing it legally. Not a big fan of amnesty, however.

I don't hate them now. I actually understand their plight and why they come here illegally. I am for changing the immigration laws so that it is easier to get here legally - that way we wont have so many illegals, but that is a different subject.

Uh no...

They have to go through the same process all the other people went through to get in this country legally.

Why should the latino population be more special?

Equal rights, means, equal responsibilities.
and that includes jumping through the same hoops.

EQUAL...
