Trim the long hair around his behind, and keep it clipped short.

(By the by, I would use gloves for this job as it sounds like your dog already has a mess that needs cleaning...)

Work cream conditioner into it..People's hair conditioner is fine for this..Also, Dawn dish soap will desolve it, but you can't let it touch the anus, or it will sting..so I would just stick to the conditioner..
Then it will comb out with a big toothed comb..
Baby wipes desolve it, but it takes a bunch of them..

Eeewww, hose them off or take him to a groomer and let them do it. Once the poo poo is gone, shave his legs so it doesn't get stuck there again.
