At no time for any period of time has there been any real lasting peace in the middle east,the US is the youngest country in the world almost and we have had periods of peace that have lasted longer than most in middle east. And this was even before we supposedly invaded their lands,although what that really means,if you know history,is that we began to have major dealings with them which were embraced by the powerful due to the wealth they could attain,but since the poor gained nothing they hated the west choosing to blame us for their plight rather than their greedy and immoral leaders. The west has more than enough real faults to answer for without answering for fictional wrongs made up by disgruntled arabs. And while things in their world have gone wrong ocassionally,such as the creation of Israel,the fact is that whenever they have had the chance for peace they have thrown it away. Of course the Quran is filled with violence so is this their natural course as a people?

Your right it is only peaceful if you happen to be a Muslim, if not then you either live in a state of Dhimmitude (2nd class citizen) or convert. There is a term called Taqquiya in the Koran which basically means to take an infidel as a freind only to use to your advantage. People are quick to screech bigot without realising the biggest bigots on earth are Muslims, ie: killl homosexuals, convert by the sword any non believer, have as many wives as you wish of any age and beat them at your will.

You really need to study more.
The ancient and mideaval Muslims were responsable for many advances in archetecture and astronomy that the Europeans had only begun to explore. The area known today as the Middle East had enjoyed long periods of peacetime just as much as Europe did. Trouble started when nobles of either reigion began to get greedy.
As for why Islam is being dominated politically by its most extreme groups...I can't really say. Recent history of the ME, while available, is murky to me. Some of it may have to do with the fanatics capitalizing on some of the wrongs the West has done to the ME region, and some of it may have to do with the desperate levels of poverty there caused by a lack of money going to the common folk.
I do know that Wahabbism is a very dangerous branch of Islam because of its literalism and embrace of barbarism as virtue, but that is no more representative of the Muslim faith than the KKK is of Christianity. If Islam had been Wahabbi all those centuries ago, they would never have made it past the Middle Ages...they would have torn themselves apart. Wahabbism is a recent development, possibly a backlash reaction to the rapid modernization of the ME.

The Quran (Koran) is no more filled with violence than the Torah or the Bible. Check out the old testament of the Bible, or the early sections of the scripture in the Torah.
An eye for an eye, smiting with the jawbone of an ***, the epic of the Great Flood.
The Quran, the Bible and the Torah all have a common root. The early sections of the Quran, the Old Testament of the Bible, and the Torah are all interlaced; many common sections, stories and themes. (Moreso for the Old Testament and the Torah, which are, of course, parallel)
Look only to the Crusades and the Inquisition for great violence perpatrated by extremists of the Christian faith.
For Jewish extremists, look at Kach and Kahane Chai.
The roots of all violence lie not in religion, but in disenfranchisement - once a persone feels that they have noting to loose, the subverting them to your cause is easy.
Wrapping it in religion simplifies the reference framework.
The solution is economic stability and a sense of individual and community self worth.

Well, Americans are the last one who could judge which country is peace full and which is not. The whole world knows that you have an aggressive society and that your country is destroying other cultures. Like you did ruined a culture of American Indians. And we will not mention your history: slavery....
