I'm a white guy from So Cal, and I wrote an SA to the White House when I went to West Riverside Elementary, back in '63, that the United States should purchase Mexico, like we did Alaska, and Hawaii, and many other parts of the USA, like New Mexico, and Mississippi, etc. We are ALL IMMIGRANTS, or our parents or grand parents are. Let's all share the AMERICAN continent "The Canadians would shiver at this idea, but we could handle that" Ron

I like the hard line approach of some Republicans. However, I do not like the idea that they should compromise. They are for enforcing the current laws. Why should they have to compromise the current law? It was made a law for a reason. The next time I get a ticket, I wonder if me and the judge could sit down and compromise on the offense. I could just tell them that "Hey everybody's doing it, so why enforce it. Just change it so you won't have to do as much work."
They should stop spending so much money on foreign policies and fix this problem. One-hundred fifty billion on Iraq and the defense department and none going to border security. What kind of priorities are those? Isn't border security consider defense? Start pulling troops out of Iraq, and set up bases closer to the borders. Also make the punishments for illegal immigration tougher and make employers of illegal immigration suffer harsh consequences. Enforce the laws we have, don't compromise them.

It is all grandstanding on both sides. If you really wanted to curb illegal immigration, all you would have to do is set up a SS verification database that all businesses would have to use. Failure to use this would result in serious fines. Would work, but not likely to become law.

The government is right in regulating immigration because it is for the preservation of the state, proper distribution of welfare benefits, employment and terrorism.
