I went to a private school but attended Sunday school at a reform Jewish temple until I graduated high school. During my high school years, I was a teaching assistant there.

With regards to saints, I couldn't really care less about the label. I don't claim to know anything about the process, so I can't say anything about it.

Santa only bothers me in the sense that it's a lie that parents knowingly tell their children. Additionally, a lot of people go out and spend way more than they can afford on presents for their children on Christmas, only to have the credit given to a nonexistant entity. I think the kids should realize it's their parents who made that effort so they can give their appreciation to the right person. I can kinda see why Santa is used though. To me, it seems like a practice religion. I would say it's like a training potty, but I think people would take offense to unimplied connotations. I can elaborate if you want at a later date.

I don't hate theists. I don't hate theism. I'm bothered by ignorance, and I hate willful ignorance. Unfortunately, many people's religious beliefs force them into one of those categories. Of course, religion isn't the only thing that does this, and oftentimes I find myself posting against atheists who are being stupid, using arguments like "How can you idiots believe in your sky genie??!! It's so obvious it's not true!" (I probably spelled that better than they would have.) That's what gets annoying, no matter which side it comes from. What's fun is arguing with someone who knows a thing or two. Then you get some satisfaction when you shoot down their arguments. (We won't talk about how it feels when they tear that counterargument to shreds.)

Let's see...

Did I go to a religious based institution?

Never in my life. I went to a state school, was raised at home with my parents, and whenever I had to go to hospital, I was always either in state or private institutions, but never run by the church.

What do I think of saints?

Too wide a question to get one single answer. Which saint?

What do I think of Mother Theresa?

Well, I have heard very bad things about her, but since I don't know them for a fact, I won't make any accusations.

Does Santa bother me?

No! Why should a fantasy character bother me?

Do I hate theists?

No I hate the church, not the people. Like I hate cancer, but not the people who are ill with cancer. Can you understand the difference? I don't mean agree, but just understand it?

I went to church 4 times a week for 18 years. I think people can try to be good despite being religious. I have no problem with Santa....he makes a better story than Jesus that's for sure. I don't hate anyone...but I do hate ignorance, intolerance and refusal to apply critical thinking to life changing events. And I hate having someone else's life style shoved down my throat. And being told to I'm going to hell, I don't like that much either. But as you christians are so fond of saying, hate the actions, not the person.

I get along fine with open minded Christians who support the 1st amendment separation of church and state. I generally try to answer questions with at least the same level of civility shown to me by the asker.

FYI I was raised Mormon, started questioning it when I was 12, but didn't fully decide it was wrong until I was 18. It then took another 10 years or so to weed out all of the buried assumptions from my upbringing. Since then I continue to be interested in religion as it affects society, and especially in the clash between religion and science.

Went to public school.

Raised Christian.

Mother Theresa did a lot of good things for poor people.

Santa doesn't bother me. He's a fun fictional character who symbolizes good things (generosity, peace, etc)

Most of us don't hate theists. We just hate being told how immoral we are all the time. We also don't like being preached to, told that we are hard-hearted, or just like christians only more negative. We are seriously misunderstood by many theists, and we admitedly can get a bit defensive when we debate those religious types to love who degrade us.

An Atheist has just as much right to NOT believe in God as I do TO believe in God, as long as the few fanatics, (which you'll find on both sides) don't judge me or try to convert me, I'll show them the same respect. Which is how it should be.

... They hate you because they don't believe in God?

Their disbelief in God comes from going to an orphanage, hospital, or religious school?

What the hell are you talking about?

it tends to be the people that see it one way and bother others of different philosophical views to the point of telling them how they should live their lives. Just because you are of one religion or another means nothing. Practice what you preach.

Being a fan of science I can relate to atheists although I was raised as a catholic I no longer practice the religion, too much oppression of free thought. I do believe in a supreme being but I welcome and encourage you to disagree with me....

some men do. For the main area that is in simple terms something to place a badge on their chest that they have got deflowered her. So to boot the intercourse in maximum situations there is not any longer something greater... Others do no longer want that resposibility of being the 1st guy as you have too lots of a profound impression on the female. "i do no longer want to cut back to rubble then she on no account likes intercourse lower back" the final analysis this would not remember to maximum men yet having a woman enable you understand which you're her first positioned's presure on a guy.
