The Pallet on the left gives you tools to use, and the square box lets you adjust those tools. The size and shape of the tool can be selected. The Hardness controls how sharp the edge of the tool will be. The opacity should be at 100 unless you want your tool to have a random effect. If you want to reduce the strength of a tool then change the density, which creates and even reduction. The step controls how smooth the transition is, a higher step will make the process of the tool more dramatic and clear, the lower the step the fewer the changes so it make a smoother transition.

The Layer Pallet is like putting a sheet of glass on top of another. You can see through the layers and you can perform any operation on one layer without effecting the other layers. You can use layers to add new elements to the work or only adjust one element of the drawing. Once you have the drawing right then you can merge the layers creating on single drawing, it's like stacking the glass plates on top of each other and framing them as one picture.

The color pallet on the right lets you choose colors for various tools. On the top of the pallet two boxes. When using a tool the right box will be the color used if you right click on the mouse, the left box will be what color is used if you left click. For example you can use two colors to paint or erase with. The erase tool is just the paint tool only backwards.

The hand gives you options that no other tool has. You can use the brush to perform various operations like smooth, sharpen, bring up the lightness, or reduce it and so on. There are a lot of options so you need to experiment with each one.

The overview window gives you a thumbnail image of the entire drawing. If you are working on a small part of the drawing then you can see how your changes look when compared to the whole drawing. If you click on a place in the overview window it will take you to that point, but keep you are the same scale.

The magnifying glass lets you zoom in and out of the drawing. It does it on the center of the magnifying glass. You can do the same with the mouse wheel, if you press on and hold down the mouse wheel then it will change to movement up and down.

The eyedropper lets you pick a color, if you click it on the color pallet at the right you have a wide range of colors to chose from. If you click it on the boxes at the top then you will get a choice of 64 colors, to the right is a way to customize the color you want with better control. If you have a favorite color then you can add it to the boxes at the bottom. You can also use these boxes to hold a color that you need frequently in a drawing and then change it for other drawings.

The Resize tool is a rectangle with an arrow pointing down or right. It changes the size of the drawing. You can change it by percentage or by pixels; this makes the drawing larger or smaller.

The Canvas Size tool is a box with 4 arrows pointing out. This changes the drawing area without changing the size of the drawing. You can use it to add/subtract more space to the margins of the drawing. The Crop tool lets you cut down those margins with a rectangular box.

The deformation tool lets you rotate the object or to stretch or compress it. The changes will be very rough until you click on the outline tools.

The outline tools or the selection tools are a rectangular box and a lasso. The rectangular box lets you select a part of the drawing. You can cut this out, or use the color in the right box on the color pallet to change the color. The Lasso tool lets you make your selection by hand. When you go to the tool pallet you can either make it work with various selected points, you can draw it all by hand, or you can use the smart option to get computer help in your selection. Once a selection is made you can hold down the shift key and add more to your selection, or hold down the control key to subtract things from your selection. If you want to edit one area without changing the area right next to it then enclose it in a selection box. Under the Menu choice Selections you can invert the selection, save it or do other things. If you work on one side and then want to work on the other without messing up the edge then use the invert option. If you are working on one drawing a lot and using a selection from it then you can save the selection outline under this menu.

The top menu gives you access to the menu functions like selections, view etc. All changes made her are global changes to the entire drawing or the selection. You can use the Image menu to change the image. You can flip it left or right or you can rotate it, you can change it to a watermark, change the size or change the canvas size. The blue circle with an I in the middle gives you all the information on the drawing, like its size, the number of colors in it how many pixels per inch (which is the resolution) and so on.

Effects lets you make standard changes to the image, like make it look like it was embossed on metal, or to clip it to a circle, or to apply filters where you can get custom distortions.
