if you really want to name your baby after someone, but there are other names that you like better, try making that persons name a middle name or something. Then you could go ahead and use the name you prefer for the first name. That's just an idea, but I hope it helps you out! And best wishes with your baby!!

The child is yours - a part of your family - and will carry that name with them forever. It should definitely be a name that you want to give them. You could try using the other person's name as your child's middle name?

You could give the child multiple names. Honor the important person's name by adding it as a second or third name. You could even use a variation on their name so it isn't totally the same. For example, if the person is named Elizabeth, you could name your child:
Mary Elizabeth Jones
Mary Eliza Jones
Mary Beth Jones
Mary Louise Elizabeth Jones
Marie Elise Jones
Elora Lisabeth Jones
ETC.

All of my children are named after someone- but only one of them have the exact same name. For instance- my daughter's name is Taryn which is a combination of Terry and Karen. My other daughter's name is Layla and she was named after my mom- whose name is Lila. But- if you want to name your baby something that you like than maybe use that person's name as a middle name. Just remember- you have to live with the name you choose for your child. You don't want to regreat it later.

Choose the person's name as a middle name and make the first name whatever you please.
There is an old Jewish custom not to name the child's first name after someone who is living because it is considered unlucky.

Actually, I have always wanted to name my child after my great-grandmother who passed away. Although I do like other names, as well as hers, I will prolly still name her/him after her just because she was a sweet and kind ole' woman who would do anything for anyone...I want my child/children to grow up and be like her..
