Which one sounds louder and clearer? Which one gives out less backround 'noise' when playing a home-recorded track?

PC speaker are small in size and can not really fill the room with sound. While some manufacturer lable there speaker monitor or studio monitors is sometime missleading. Studio monitor speaker like JBL and Paradigm and a couple of others are speakers that are actually used by recording studios to sample the recordings. They are more precise in reproducing sound thats recorded and JBL is the most used speakers in studios and movie theaters around the world.

DJ speakers have a lot more bass; so much that it is not true to the source material. Studio monitors are very carefully calibrated to give equal response across the full audio spectrum. You can listen to studio monitors at very high sound levels, though, and they will remain accurate.

If you are recording at home, get a good pair of monitors and do all your mixing on them. You may then wish to CHECK your material by adding a powered subwoofer.
