OK here's the idea. It was expressed by Thomas Aquinas, back in the 13th century.

When God created the world, everything He created was good, including man, but by eating the apple Adam and Eve sinned and were thrown out of Paradise. Thereafter, men were not pleasing to God. It also meant that they would never be considered worthy to be in Heaven - the presence of God.

The sin against God, the Father and Creator, was an insult - a slap in the face. But God is an eternal being. So how can this insult be paid for by an imperfect creature like man? It can't. The insult had to be answered by somone both God and man - Jesus. When Jesus died on the cross, as an infinite being and a man, he could repair the insult to his divine Father. Thereafter, all good men could enter heaven.

There is a tradition that since heaven was closed to mankind until Jesus died, all the righteous who died between Adam and Jesus, would not have been allowed into the full presence of God until then.

If you don't go for that explanation, just think about how perfect God is and and how imperfect and sinful man is. How can a man ever hope to be good enough to be in the presence of the source of goodness - God. Mankind needed to be made worthy to be in God's presence and Jesus' sacrifice - on mankind's behalf - did that. Mankind has "credit" with God because of Jesus' sacrifice.

Jesus died for the sins of mankind. That included those born before Jesus came and those who were to be born after He died and rose again.

That my friend is the pure joy of his act - he died for those who had come before him, for those who were alive at his time, and for those who would come after him. That is a single act of love that none has done before, or will ever do again. That's why people keep telling you he died for your sins. But it's not just your sins, it all peoples sins as we are born we are born into the sin of humanity and its end is death and eternity in hell; but his death and resurrection is our option to accept if we do not like what we were born into and I for one do not, so I have accepted Christ as my Savior and have found that his act of love has been the most important and valuable action anyone has ever taken on my behalf and I look forward to the day when I stand before him.

Jesus died for the sins of all mankind then and forever so that those who have faith in His resurrection will live everlasting life. Thats whats so important about the Gospel and spreading the Good News.

Why do they keep telling you that Jesus died for your sins? Because he did.
He died for ALL mankind's sins. That included yours.
God knew the beginning and end, and all the middle. He is the alpha and omega.

When Adam and Eve the first people sinned, they condemmed all of humanuty to separation from God. Jesus sacrificed himself to pay the price for all of humanity to be with God. All we need to do is accept the gift Jesus gave us.

When you were born you were in sin. read the strict rules of the lord our god, do you look at women with lust, strike one already. do you care about money more than your relationship with god, strike two. if you were left to the law of god and not his grace, than it is hopeless for you, me, and any other believer. He died because we are sinful, no matter how good you think you are, you are sinful. don't murder, don't steal, seems unfair, well god gave his only son to die for you, now tell me does that seem fair to you. That an Innocent man should die for the wreaks we are?
We did nothing to deserve his grace but he died for you, for me, and for those who crucified him, does that seem fair? Now look inside yourself, all that he gave and all that he sacrificed for you, do you have any right to say god is unfair. there is only one way, one path, and one savior the lord our god Jesus Christ. His yoke is easy and his burdens light, his love unsurpassed, are you not tired my son, are you not finished running away? Seek me, call and i will answer you, i have a yoke just for you, i have a mansion in heaven just for you and all you need to do is deny yourself and follow me. I need to go to church, no, you need to just go in your room and cry out to me, every thing else, i will do.

So that disqualifies his sacrifice?
He died for the sins of all men, through faith, of all time.

I suggest picking up the Bible and making your own decisions. Do not let religious fundamentalists or atheists guide you. Spirituality is personal and we all have a relationship with the Higher Power.

I know you are smarter than that. I know you have read the Bible out of curiosity, you are just being a bully.
