I have a 17 month old doberman, who destroys any toy I buy him. The exception is the Black Kong. But he only has this one toy.. it gets boring for him after a while!! He puts his teeth through things quite quickly

Definately 1/4 of a cars tire. It was the toy for my Pit Bull and its supper cheap. Oh and if thats not tuff enough than hang an entire tire to a tree and that should last.

I was going to say THE KONG - but it seems you have already discovered that. If you are not afraid of a little blood in his diet, you can go to a butcher and pick up big leg bones from beef. If you want to avoid the taste of blood, you can get the great big bones from the pet store - at a much higher cost. My dog used to have a solid rubber ball that was indestructable as the kong, but hard to find. It was big, so harder to get his jaw right around.

If you are playing WITH him, the rope toys are great, but a dog who wants to destroy things should not have a rope toy in his alone time.

My dog actually has a teddy bear - yeah, big tuff dog - that he beats to death, and I am totally impressed at how long it has lasted him. Granted, it is missing some stuffing, but it is by far his favorite, and he treats it like a fresh killed rabbit. This is a dog who goes to the slough and brings back ducks and muskrat, so he knows how to handle a fresh kill!

Good luck!

Kong is the best toymaker for the destructive fellas. They make different things than just that one style of toy so he doesn't have to be bored! Check them out a little more online.

I wish I could give you other ideas, but Kong toys are the only ones I am confident can stand up to anything.

Many dogs aren't interested in a slick, new Nylabone. I think they are putting the nubby texture on more of them now. I think it is part of the reason so many dogs like the hard to find dinosaur ones. The ultimate is the Souper Size Galileo Nylabone. It is about 7 inches long and 3 inches around. It has the slick surface. They are more attractive if you rough up the surface with sand paper or by rubbing it on a concrete floor. Another technique is to jam a Nylabone into a Kong creating what I call a twofer. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

I also have a dog with a very powerful ability to shred anything. He is a 4 year old American Red Nose Pitt Bull. Contrary to popular belief, he is a sweetheart that wouldn't hurt a fly. Honestly... What works best for him is the "Tug of War" ropes, and the "Dental" toys. You can usually tell which toys will last by handling them and using your imagination a little, lol.

Hi the KONG is the best and you could try getting more than one in different colours they might have a different smell to them also you can stuff them with different treats then you could but a tuggy rope through one of them I wouldn't give them plastic bone things because they do break off and then you can have problems,
also get a horse lead rope they are great for tugging on. Hope this helps bcbella

Doberman are unpredictable, like other inbreds, so it's hard to say what 'toy' to keep them occupied with. They are into toys like a regular man is into "not" having sex with a lady they asked out to dinner. The only difference is that a doberman can get away with attacking these days, us poor guys can't.
