THERE ARE SEVERAL BRANCHES OF PENTECOST,SOME BELIEVE THAT IT IS ALRIGHT FOR WOMEN TO WEAR PANTS AND CUT THEIR HAIR,WHILE OTHERS BELIEVE THAT IF YOU DO THESE THINGS YOU ARE HELL BOUND,AND THEY HAVE ONLY ONE SCRIPTURE,NOT TWO OR THREE SCRIPTURES TO BUILD THEIR DOCTRINE ON,AS THE BIBLE EXPLAINS THAT THERE SHOULD BE ATLEAST 2 OR 3 WITNESSES,THEY ONLY PREACH THE 1 SCRIPTURE THAT SAYS "WOMEN SHOULD NOT WEAR THAT WHICH PERTAINETH TO A MAN,HOW DO THEY DERIVE THAT PANTS ARE MANS APPAREL?

I grew up Pentecostal and we couldn't wear pants, makeup, jewelry or do anything to try to look decent. Deuteronomy 22:5 was DRILLED into us!

I truly believe its that way so the men in the church won't be tempted.

I haven't really been to church in years. But I am considering becoming Methodist or Episcopalian.

When I went, Men: No shorts (pants only) No facial hair or long hair (mostly all ear length) No jewelry except watches, wedding rings and class rings depended on the pastor, some allowed them and some did not Women: No pants or shorts of any kind, only skirts and dresses below the knee (some said ankles, and some counted splits as well, again depends on the pastor/church) Coulotts were allowed, (but why???) No make up at all (well except chapstick and/or clear lip gloss and clear nail polish) No jewelry except watches and sometimes wedding rings or class rings Fake nails sometimes if they were natural or french (not colored (but again depends on the pastor/church) Cannot cut hair at all Also no piercings or tats on anyone Not sure about dying hair (depends on pastor again) Oh, and sleeves were an issue too (men and women). Nothing strappy or sleeveless. Some said long sleeves only, some said sleeves to the elbow or longer and some were ok with short sleeves (to a point), but never sleeveless. Different churches varied and a great many people did not always follow it, but rather lied and condemned one another with it. (Just my personal experience) Although not all are like that.

I am apostolic pentecost in my doctrine belief, but i dont believe in the dress standard that most pentecost follow.to dress modestly and holy is what the word says that a woman should do,and i do that in my pants.I really believe that the dress standard is a man made tradition, and the Bible says we are not to follow mans traditions, but to follow the doctrine of Jesus Christ, therefore I have to strive to be like Christ in everything I do.To live for Jesus, and have no other God before him,to love my neighbor as myself, and to have a pure clean heart,is what its about, not what you wear,(as long as its holy).I really dont get the dress standard, but,I have nothing bad to say about it if thats what a woman truly believes she has to do to be saved, and if her dress keeps her where she is suppose to be in her walk with god, then thank you Jesus.

This is an excellent question, because if look to the historical dress of the Arab nations we find that robes were the dress code, therefore, men are the ones who have deviated. I think the real issue here is that we are to dress modestly regardless of who we are. Christ did not set forth a dress code, he only set forth a standard of living for all to follow. I'm more concerned with what Christ set forth than what man set forth, and Paul was dealing with a specific situation that man has traditionalized to the point of taking our focus off Christ and putting it onto ourselves. That is a sin in and of itself.

Think about it....have you heard of any female clergy in Pentecostal church? Like most denominations, it's a man's world.
