WASHINGTON (ABD) - With violence spiking in Iraq and no end in sight, the United States is uneasily adjusting for a longer, more difficult fight that could tie down US ground forces for four more years. ( Just like Vietnam )
General George Casey, the top US commander in Iraq, served notice in Washington this week that levels of violence there have never been higher and are likely to stay high for some time.
Gunmen massacred nine staff members of a Baghdad satellite television firm Thursday, another day of car bombings and killings that have intensified during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
"We assume it will still get worse before its get better," said Major General William Caldwell, the US military spokesman in Baghdad. "We expect violence to continue to increase over the next two weeks, until the end of Ramadan." We don't know if the USA can win.

I believe I just heard from a credible person, (yes, some exist), that it will be more like eight years--this is all so very pathetic. I wish I felt secure enough to say much more--but not on line. I think it's safe to say: GET OUT. NOW. I see bumper stickers that say: "Support our troops!" I'd so love to add "BRING THEM BACK." Those of us who don't believe we should ever have been there, are often bashed--as if we didn't "care" about our troops. On the contrary! What was really, honestly, ever expected to come of this? Oh I wish....

What we should do in Iraq
is to purchase some cheap
cars, load them with explosives
and drive them over to the homes
of those extremeist muslims and
detonate them. I would recommend
about six per week for the next 90
days. They understand the concept
of fight Fire with Fire better than we do.
Next I would round up all the anti-American
Mullahs and send them to Gitmo for
giving aid and comfort to enemy forces.
Replace them with Anti-extremeist, peace
advocates. Establish the concept that You
Are Either For Us, or Against Us.
Then I would set up a special Global Swat
Team whose prime mission was to wipe
out all Anti-American internet servers,
Extremeist Television and Radio
Stations.
Then I would change the dress code in the
entire country to Shorts and Tee Shirts.
you cannot hide a bomb, pistol, or
rifle under a tee shirt.
Abolish and disband all local militias. Collect all
firearms, explosives, and heavy weapons. Send
them to the cutting torches.
Last but not least, our guys should quit
driving on existing highways and roads
time after time. They should never take the
same route to a destination regardless of
what the situation is. All car/truck convoys
should have air cover from quad Cobra
Gunships.

The fact is that once we "get things under control" and leave things will go to hell again anyhow.
That being said I am not sure staying there is the best plan.
Although the UN has the responsibility of protecting the people of Iraq since they overthrew the government...yet the US gets stuck with the bill as usual.
How do we fix our dilema? What do you do when 2 large countries are funding terrorists (insurgents) to invade and disrupt another counrty we are trying to protect? Take the fight to them.
If we keep playing by thier rules we will keep losing civilians and troops.

the only way to stop the violence in Iraq is to show Superior fire power and true relentless desire to stop the civil war that they are waging on each other. start a trust fund from the oil proceed and distribute a portion of the profit to all Iraqis like some of the other oil rich nations do. maybe if they see that they have a stake in their own country the will relax long enough to talk.

Get the hell out! We should have done that a long time ago! The US is not going to have ANY say into who runs Iraq, and the way that country gets along, he'll probably have to be worse the Saddam! But this time they will HATE us! Saddam did not hate the US! How the worm turns!
What are we doing with 3,000 dead in this despicable war started by an evil man!

We need to stay and put more into the war. Don't just trudge along and wait to see what happens or this will be another Vietnam. Send in more troops with more and better equipment and more money all at once. Completely overwhelm everyone and it will be over very soon with the results wanted.

Now it is another fabricated article by erudite..... after 1 time of not adding a fabrication, the habitual liar named erudite is back to his old tricks... and back to being caught at it by those who admire the TRUTH and detest the liars whose tools include the violation of copyright law....
so lets get down to it... the fabricated parts....
"( Just like Vietnam )"
"We don't know if the USA can win." (in a BLATANT attempt to make it seem that General Casey stated such a thing)
You are exposed again, liar

I am not being hateful. But U.S. can not win a conventional war anywhere in the world. U.S involvement in Iraq is based on the presumption that military can restore peace everywhere in the world.. Those who fight U.S. are well motivated by ideology or religion and rarely by draft or weapon power.

it's what you've done in Iraq. the county is filled with over 160,000 soldiers. that many guys with guns
picture the east and west at war. this is their war game. Now that western ships are piling up in japan and around iran, don't you understand? the us encourages war for its profit - for the underground mercenary market. its as old as time
wrong question wrong ethic wrong place wrong time
