If by God you mean the god of Judeo-Christian faith then no, Wicca are not against God because Wicca is a henotheistic religion, this means that they have their own specific gods that they follow but do not deny the existence of other gods. So Wicca do not deny the existence of God, nor do they deny the existence of Satan, they simply do not follow them any more than they follow Allah or Haile Selassie I, like every other religion they follow their own deities.

Wicca follow their own gods, these are known in outer-court references as the Horned God and Great Mother Goddess, these are placeholders used as references to talk about their religion and help teach those wishing to become Wicca. Once someone is initiated into Wicca they are taught the true names of the gods Wicca follow, the identities of the gods are oath-bound meaning they are only taught to people initiated into a Wicca coven. Essentially these are gods based on early European Pagan gods, with heavy influences on their god's connection to nature and living things.

As Wicca is oath-bound those not Wicca are limited to outer-court teachings about Wicca, so how much you can learn about Wicca without becoming Wicca yourself is limited, Wicca do this as a way to protect the knowledge and integrity of their beliefs – in other words if it was public then people could misunderstand, bastardise and otherwise warp their ideas due to misunderstanding, this is why Wicca have to be taught by those already within Wicca.

Wicca was founded in the early 1900's by Gerald Gardner but based upon older ideas; there is no specific date for Wicca being founded because it was a slow process of influences on Gardner's life, also because witchcraft was still illegal in the early 1900's in England. Their practices and ideas combine Paganism, Eastern philosophy, witchcraft and ceremonial magics like that of the Golden Dawn, many Wicca also follow mystical systems such as Golden Dawn or Enochian. Their beliefs are normally hard-polytheistic, meaning the belief in many gods as individual beings, Wicca follow the Sabbats and Esabbats (seasonal celebrations) as representations of the life cycle of their deities.

Wicca are largely reliant on their own moral codes and ethics because Wicca does not have dogma, only doctrine, Wicca teach the 'law or return' and Wicca rede to new initiates and Seekers as a way to make them recognise the consequences of their actions before such time when they are ready to take responsibility in accordance to their own ideas – the law of return is often presented as westernised karma meaning that if you do something bad then something bad will happen, the rede is often summed up in the line 'an if it harm none do as thou wilt' which is essentially saying 'you can't do as you want because you may harm others' and is essentially taken as a means of expressing cause and effect.

If we are talking about the views of fundamentalist Christians then it could be said that Wicca is against God in that any religion that does not follow God is therefore against God – Christianity is not a very open religion in that it denies the existence of other gods and the god of Christianity demands all follow him and only him. Commonly people prejudice towards Wicca use the Bible to say that God is against witchcraft so Wicca [as all practicing Wicca practice witchcraft] must be against God, however with serious academic study of the Bible you will find the Bible says none of this about witchcraft, the Bible is unfortunately used more as a tool of hatred than love – witchcraft and other forms of magic were used within Christianity a very long time before Wicca was ever founded.

Any questions feel free to ask me, I could also offer some more reliable links and books, however if your man is Wicca he should be able to teach you all he can (without breaking his oaths of course) - although, not everyone who claims to be Wicca is Wicca.

I am a proud Wiccan and have been practicing for 8 years now. According to the Bible yes Wicca is against god. This is because as you have seen here it is called witchcraft and most people associate it with the devil. I can not speak for all Wiccans but those that I know and we do not believe in the devil. There are some out there who profess to follow the Wiccan path and claim to worship the devil but they are not true Wiccans. There is a lot more to Wicca than most know. Feel free to e-mail me or IM me and I can answer any other question you may have. Many Blessings to you and yours.

Wicca recognizes a god as a spirit that resides in everything, and from there you can find a pantheon which are "aspects" of the divine spirit. You can even believe in the hebrew God and Jesus and be a Wiccan, and call upon catholic saints, for example, instead of the traditional pagan gods and godesses. Eclectic wicca lets you find your own way. Most of the focus is on the natural world that we inhabit, who is a mother to us, since we come from, flourish on, and return to the earth. The holidays are seasonal, such as Samhain (halloween) yule (christmas) Candlemass(groundhog day).... eight holidays throughout the year marking the equinox and solstices and agricultural based holidays. Wiccans also celebrate the phases of the moon by holding esbats which occur on the full moon. Wiccans also cast spells, but not to harm, cursing is believed to come back to the caster threefold. Wicca accepts divinity as both male and female,
and is empowering to women which just about every other major religion neglects. There are as many numerous ways to be a wiccan as there are wiccans. And, there is no devil, so wiccans do not worship something that they don't believe in. We have the free will to do as we will, and ask the elements and the gods and goddesses to aid us. I suggest you ask your man, and he will certainly let you know that wicca is not against god, and feellucky to have a wiccan man, they tend to have a great respect for women, as an equal.

No, it's not against the Biblical God. Most Wiccans don't worry about what other people believe. And if you want to know more, ask your man. I'm sure he will tell you.

Most wiccans believe in the spirits in natural things. It is a form of god but not necessarily the one served up at the corner church.

So why not ask him? Chances are he would love to talk about it and appreciate your interest. All you will get on here is hate from Christians.
But to answer your question: Yes, the Wiccan religion is against god. ANY religion that does not believe solely in the god of the Judaeo-Christian Bible is against their God. He ordered whole nations slaughtered, men, women and children, for the crime of not believing in him.

No we are not we just have a different view of what GOD is. We call it Spirit. Then as it knows duality we can beak it down into male and female each in its own season.for some the sun is male and the moon is female . for others its the other way around.it is still a trinity type of idea.We do not believe in the Christian idea of SATAN nor do we worship him . the Christian church put that label on us when we refused to convert completely and practiced a dual religion. Christianity on Sunday and Paganism at home. But we do recognize that there is evil in the world. Most caused by mankind its self without any extra outside push.
We are a nature based religion as most of those that started it were farmers and herdsmen. that worshiped the things that they had to work with everyday. Earth,Air,Water,Fire, and Spirit.
Wicca and Christianity have more in common than the christian priests would like you to know about as they took our rites and rituals and holy days into their own religion to try and get us to convert.
Talk to your man and ask him . he is allowed to answer questions about the basics of his religion. no big secret as there are plenty of books on the subject in print for anyone to read.
