If you go outside, your doggie will want to go outside.

If you play with a ball, your doggie will want to play.

If you want your dog to be more active, play more!!!

Of course, your doggie may be out of shape, or old, or ill, or very young ... all off which may contribute to sleeping more. You could always get him checked out with your vet to ensure he is completely healthy.

Woof!

It depends on the breed, and especially the age.

Greyhounds, which I have, sleep 17 - 22 hours a day - this is normal for a dog 3 and older in their breed

Even ones that are 2 sleep at least 15. Age and or being overweight is a big factor too.
If the dog is bored, this might be a pass time that he as adopted as behavior.
Break up his/her routine. Take then in a car even when you just go to the store to get milk, or soda.
All I have to do is say go bye byes and my dog is high alert!
Overweight pets, will be inactive, thus sleeping due to boredom.

Anything that you can think of to get involved with your pet is a positive start. take puppy steps, and don't rush it. After several repetitions of "good" active memories for the dog, they'll want to participate more.

First analyse how long its been like this ..... If its gonna be for the past few days then check its diet on the last day when its been active......if u suspect it had somethin that's unusual , take it to doc...

If its like this from its birth , then it might be its laziness due to lack of activity.. get the dog into activities like playing with a ball, chasing a ball,n many more is there... Jus spend time with it for playin n ur dog will turn active.......

It really depends on the breed you chose. I have a five month English Mastiff who lays around all day and that is exactly what he is supposed to do. If you puppy is going to be a large breed to much exercise can actually lead to hip displaysia and other bone and joint problems. As long as your dog is not gettiing largly over weight or looking generally un healthy let him be. He knows what is good for his body in general. Be sure you keep up on Vacc. and vet visits though.

Well, it depends on the age of the dog. get it some toys and play with it. dogs like to play fetch or tug on a toy or blanket. if this doesn't work, try some food for less active dogs cuz that might help get the energy level back up.

Dogs get very bored, if they don't rip things to shreds they are sleeping. You have to get your dog motivated and start by taking it for a short walk then extend the walks. If you don't like walking then you have a problem as well. Get out and enjoy your animal

Pets are usually a reflection of its owner. I think that you should be more pro-active with your dog. Train him with activities that would help him to be more active. Playing catch or get the stick may be good. My dog is used to morning activities. He is the one who wakes me up in the morning since he does look forward with our morning regimen. I do my exrcise while playing with him.

your dog is lazy!! probably nothing will change that! why dont you get a more active breed? yorkies and poodles are very active.and just let your lazy dog be lazy. you might take him for a check up to make sure he is healthy.

It depends on the age, breed, and temperment of the dog. I would seek a vet's opinion
