Only in months that end in "er",, i.e. September, October, etc.
This is merely country southern logic, which is most of my knowledge.
Truth is, there is risk in all uncooked raw foods. I wouldn't suggest young children eating it or older folks, just because of speculated immune deficiencies. I've even heard drinking a glass of red wine to offset any bacteria. Seems nothing is "safe" these days, but thousands of people are consuming it regardless, and personally, ......
put one on a cracker, with a bit of lemon juice and Tabasco hot sauce, serve up with an icy cold beer, and I'm in HEAVEN!~Good luck, bound to get a ton of different views here.

dude, raw oysters kick ***... i will tell you what oyster people say, never eat raw oysters in months that don't have an "r" in their name. that;s why you have a lot of oyster roasts around thanksgiving (at least where I come from).. anyway, back to the raw ones, i hold the recod for dozens eaten by a minor (have had the record for over 15 yrs) that's 14 dozen baby!!! also, as i've gotten older, i can swear by the fact that they are an aphrodisiac..... yum!!!

It's a high risk food which means that if they are not handled, stored, or harvested from safe location they potentially make you sick. If you are eating raw oysters from a reputable supplier they are safe to eat and your are probably not going to get sick. I eat them all the time!

that may no longer counseled, as I found out in chef college; uncooked seafood of any type is risky to consume till that's rather sparkling. however, if the well-known isn't very sturdy the poison/ what you catch from the oyster might properly be transferred to the toddler. no longer sufficient to be deadly, even with the undeniable fact that that's especially no longer counseled.

If you buy it from a reliable source, I don't think there should be any problem.
