I know exactly what you mean because I feel the same way. I don't know how to deal with losing someone you love so much. All I can say is that we will see our lost loves again, in heaven. It's a long time to wait but we will have them forever then. So "goodbye" isn't goodbye, so much as see you soon. Dogs are the best pet you can have in my opinion. They give so much of themselves to you. When I finally lose my girl, I will bury her and have a headstone of sorts made. Some way of memorializing her.
Don't be sad for what you might lose - Be grateful that you ever had it at all - Rejoice in the goodness shared by and with you - And recognize the bounty of the gifts of life and love that will remain with you forever. (Author unknown)
"I fall asleep in the full and certain hope
That my slumber shall not be broken;
And that though I be all-forgetting,
Yet shall I not be all-forgotten,
But continue that life in the thoughts and deeds
Of those I loved."
--Samuel Butler
"You think dogs will not be in heaven? I tell you, they will be there long before any of us." - Robert Louis Stevenson
Each dog I have owned has left its paw print on my heart.
Just a few quotes about dogs and loss of our best friends.

Losing an animal is hard, no matter what kind it is. When the day comes that your hamster dies, put it in a small box, dig a grave, say goodbye, and remember all the funny, wonderful things he did to make you laugh. Grieve, then move forward. Humans are the only animals that think about death and are afraid of it. You need to live in the moment: Enjoy every second with your friends, animal or human, and always remember, "It is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all." Get a puppy, but think of today's happiness rather than the future's sorrow.

You sound like you're maybe open to a variety of different animals, so why not get one that lives a really, really long time--like a parrot?
Also, no, you would not throw your dead dog in the trash can. If he dies at the vet's, the vet can have the body cremated and give you the ashes, and you could bury them or scatter them on a favorite site or keep them in an urn. If he dies somewhere else, you could take the body to the vet's and the same thing could be done.

Hey I gotta tell ya. I have alot of pets and it breaks my heart every single time one of them passes on.
Just try to make it as comfortable as you can for them while they are dieing. But, in the mean time, have as much fun as you and them should have together untill that day comes.
How about doing some volunteering at the local dog pound? I'm sure that they are almost always looking for help. And it will do you good. That way, you can have all kinds of pets ....but only for awhile each day.
I will never get used to anything dieing. Never will.
Just remember.....No Body Gets Out of Here Alive!
Hey, it's true...we all gotta go sometime.
Please, try volunteering first before you get a doggie.

Every living thing is going to die someday. We all come into this world alone and someday we will all leave this world alone, animals like humans need companionship and love, that is what makes this life journey worth living. You can't keep from having relationships with humans or animals in fear that one day they will die and leave you sad. You have to live each day to the fullest, make relationships with humans and animals alike and cherish their company. If you ask me, animals make the best friends! Now, stop hesitating and go get yourself a beautiful puppy to love for its entire lifetime.

up to if you have a yard for your type of (puppy) you wont as Puppies grow into bigger dogs.Dogs seem to live allot longer, then the other animals you seem to have so maybe it would be good for you as by the time it dies you may be over the way you are with your feelings.as for when your animlas die dont just through them in the trash can, they are your pet, burry them in your yard so then you can remember them still.

you really have to stop being so negative. just enjoy thier company why they are hear, don't think about the day that they will die. if you have the funds and space and all things needed for a puppy, sure, you should get one. but you really have to stop thinking so badly about the future, think of the good stuff. good luck
