No. I think someone ought to get creative and solve the issues these sick kids have that are so angry that they think they have to hurt someone to get noticed. The adults have failed these kids.
To the person who wrote it's not a war zone. It's suppose to be a place of learning. It's changing everyday. Guns, human targets, someone who has taken control....
What if the teacher snapped dealing with some of the knuckle head students? A gun in the classroom. I don't think so..

Let us put ourselves in the schools where these recent shootings happened. Would you feel safe if you knew your teacher was there with a gun to protect you from these people who walk off the street and into the classroom and blow people away?....someone has to do something soon and not wait for another sick person to copy cat the latest ones. The children need protection now. We can't have the city police in every classroom and guarding our school's front doors...at least the people on the outside will know the teachers are ready if they try to attack another school's students and staff. If this can't be done then have a screening system at the entrances. Keep all doors locked so no one can go in and out except through the front door where they get a once over. Times have changed so our country has to change too in protecting our children or they will have to be home schooled.

Yes. But only concealed and secret. Pick ANY school shooting from the news. What was the 'kid-with-a-gun' ratio to teachers within 50 yards of each of those kids? Compare to a mugging on the street. Criminals are secure in knowing that almost nobody carries a firearm on them so if he holds up someone, there will be nobody jumping to the rescue.
If the criminal doesn't know who is armed, they will be less likely to execute their plans.
I can't believe the answers here. I'll be everyone thinks that only the cops should have guns. HELLO!!! How long does it take for the cops to get to your house if someone kicks in your front door?
How long did it take the cops to get to those schools? Um...I think the teachers were already there and could have had a major advantage in stopping excessive killings. Every second the criminal is not confronted with a defending firearm is another potential victim.
A firearm is safest in the hands of it's trained owner.

No one, absolutely no one, except for the Police, FBI and the like, should be allowed to buy and/or carry guns. Crime rate and accidents such as kids killing each other playing with their parents guns.... would go down considerably if this was the case. Unfortunately to much money is involved so the governement doesn't want to change the law....
Hilary Clinton at some point wanted to but couldn't go through because of tremendous pressure from the lobbyists..... Sad, sad, sad, that the so-called number 1 country of this world care more about money than people!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Teacher or no teacher should not be allowed to carry guns at school. It is a place of learning. It is not a war zone.

No, I just think it worsen any violent situation that might occur if that is why you are asking. God, tough job being a teacher these days. I commend you, you guts are overworked and underpaid and now have to put up with increasing school violence. I don't know what the answer is but bringing in guns is not it.

NO NO NO NO NO
It is waaaay to easy (even in a home!) for children, especially energetic, rammy ones, to get their hands on it, no matter how locked up it is. And it can't be locked up too well, especially if it has to be drawn quickly.
BAD idea. Besides, start doing that, and the culprit can use the school's own weapons against them. He will breeze past the metal detectors, take a hostage with a knife, and voila! Man with a gun, left in the school.
Oh heck no.

School shootings really suck, but arming teachers is not the answer. You really don't want a gun battle in a school. Just remember that every shot a teacher takes and misses, might hit another kid...
