There are several reason why a chicken will stop laying eggs.

1) If the chicken is being raised on non-commerical farms and not kept in a roosting house with lights on, they will slow down and eventually stop laying eggs in the latter part of summer, fall, and winter because the days are shorter and there is less light.

2) Insufficient salt in the diet will depress production.

3) If a hen starts to brood, meaning has a nest of eggs, she will stop production until she is no longer nesting.

4) After a hen has been producing eggs for several months, she becomes increasingly likely to molt. Molting and egg production are not mutually compatible, so when molting occurs, egg production ceases. The rest from egg laying allows the hen to restore its plumage condition by shedding old feathers and growing new ones. At the same time, the hen’s reproductive tract is rejuvenated, allowing it to increase its rate of egg production and produce higher quality eggs when it returns to lay.

Hens lay eggs everyday like women have their periods every month. Each month women produce an egg that leaves the body thru "blood" (to vulgarize A LOT : it is actually some kind of "baby food" for the potential baby to grow in the belly.....and bblablabla u know the rest) for chicks it leaves the body thru an egg, cause hens don't have uterus for the baby to grow...

when it stops having sex, cant make babies without sex, unless your chickens are genetically modified to be sexless layers.

one day when chickens take over the world, they will genetically modify humans to birth 3 babies a week, then we will see just how women like that pain and stress of always being pregnant.

If by using "hen" you propose husband, and by using "eggs" you propose drowsing with you, and by using "lay lower back" you propose your babies are out of control, and by using "recommendations" you propose what do we propose... My Yahoo answer is, have you ever seen counseling?
