I think you pose an interesting insight and something which could also be looked at from a variety of angles. By submitting yourself to a life of loving dedcation to God you have found a sense of security and love that is often difficult if not impossible to find in the modern world.
However it is important to understand there is another side to this and it is an individual choice that everyone must make. In order to recieve this love and safe protection from God, you are required (though this may not be the correct way to word it) to give up some of your own individuality in order to submit to God. Now this isnt claiming this is a bad thing, but it is a very real thing. Although you are a new person in your faith, you still are not "Free to" as you have submitted your freedom from a more traditional authority.
I do not judge this and no one else should either. Faith is one of the many important things to think upon and decide upon in many different parts and places in our lives. But it is important to realize there is an individuality once people accept the freedom to live outside of more traditioanl forms of authority. It is a choice that some will make.

I think some are afraid to take "stock" in God because in God there is accountability. In the stock market, there's only success or failure, but in God, one can be measured against the Ultimate good, and some people are not up to that reality.

Ah, yes... self-delusion can be very 'freeing'. Free from actual knowledge. Free from rational thought.
It is truly pathetic... and typical... that christianists do not have the intellectual chops to discern the qualitative difference between delusional 'faith' in the existence of an imaginary magical super-dude and confidence in the potential success of a business enterprise. People who see equivalence in things that aren't even remotely related... well... like I said... pathetic.
Scared to believe? LOL. You've got that wrong, Pamela... rather, we are not stupid and gullible enough to believe.

To have Faith in God is like a child and some people can not accept that, my belief in God is through my own personal experiences, I KNOW HE is there because I have ASKED HIM to be, HE says HE gives us free will and many people chose not to allow HIM into their lives, it is a sad choice they make but HE does not give up. I am glad you have a personal relationship with HIM, HE is my best friend. =)

I think it goes back to the same old thing: Fee Will. They have to choose to believe. People also think that being a believer constricts their lifestyle and they think they would have to stop drinking, carousing, lying, drugs, ...etc. That is too much to ask for some. Don't worry we have over 2 million Christians in the US.

Most people who take a chance do it knowing full well they may fail, but they see the reward as worth the risk. This is hardly a case of faith, it's simply a matter of actuarialism.

Because they don't want their whole life to depend on some fantasy. At least in business you soon know if you are right.
