Using your cellphone while driving has been a huge issue almost since cell phones were first introduced on the market. I believe that this issue is highly over rated. If you cannot concentrate on the road while doing something as simple as talking on a cell phone, then as far as I'm concerned you shouldn't be driving. With all respect, if it takes your complete mental capacity to drive, and by talking on a cell phone you are creating too much for your brain to handle at one time, then you shouldn't be allowed on the road.

personally i don't like the law because i do talk on the cell phone and drive (yes i'm guilty). but i've seen the way people drive when they talk on thier phones and its pretty bad. i read somewhere that there was a study and cell phone drivers drove worse than drunk drivers. there are many places where it is already against the law to talk on the cell phone and drive.

It would be better to say hands free technology should be used. However, I drove up next to a police officer just yesterday who was not wearing his seat belt and was talking on a cell phone. He then sped away, over the speed limit, without his lights on. Interesting how things work.

I think it is a good idea to prohibit drivers from using hand held cell phones while driving.
Statistics show that they are more apt to be involved in automobile accidents.
If you really MUST talk while driving, get a hands free device.

Probably not very enforceable as a law. But some people should put the phone away and pay attention to the road.

it is a law in Chicago. I also think it should include putting on makeup, eating, reading a book. and smoking. Have you ever seen some of these people trying to find their cigarettes lighter. I have almost been side swiped by some.

i have onstar hands free calling.
