Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and effectual, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
It comes to life when the Holy Spirit gives personal revelation of the Word. It comes to life when you trust in God's promises and act on that trust and watch God come through for you. If you are not a Christian then you probably have some other meaning for it than I do.

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us- Jesus is the living word- He is still alive today and the Holy Spirit brings us revelation of that Word because the Holy Spirit bears witness to Jesus- the Word made flesh
Just out of curiosity, can you tell me what you call yourself or what you believe? Because I believe Jesus is my savior, most people would call me a Christian, but for several reasons I prefer NOT to call myself a Christian- I don't know many others that believe this way and live as I do because of my faith in Jesus and the Bible, so I am curious to know, with the Bible as your reference and obviously a source of a major life change for you, where it is that you stand on God's Word

The Bible is a book. Books do not live.
However, the words and the wondrous meanings live on in our hearts forever. I don't believe you have to be a Christian to experience the beauty of the messages-love.

You will be if you keep reading the Bible and your heart is opened. Keep on reading. God is real and the Bible the oldest book on earth has never been destroyed, nor will it ever be. The Bible is God's love letter to you. He loves you more than anyone ever will.

I'm an atheist. The Bible is an incredible load of horse manure. If you define that as alive, then I guess I would agree with you.

THE BIBLE - whenever you read it, it gives knowledge to us, and if you read it all over again, it would give another idea... it's a continuous process of learning...

You could feed it to worms. I suppose that would make it come to life.
