The sodium and carbonation in diet soda are both harmful to your body. The sodium makes you retain water. While you're young and relatively fit, that's not too bad, but by the time you are 30, you'll start getting high blood pressure and you'll notice the extra weight.

The carbonation is bad for your kidneys. They have the job of cleaning your blood and the carbon is a major job. So is the sodium. When you drink water, your kidneys don't have to work as hard and you can actually lose weight by drinking more water and less soda. Drinking more water helps with high blood pressure, too. Having said that, I'm thirsty for a tall glass of water with a bit of ice in it. Excuse me.

While the newest studies have shown that even beverages containing caffeine count towards your "8, 8oz glasses a day," all that caffeine from all that soda is not good for you. Also, the chemical sweeteners while supposedly safe still just cannot be good for you in such great quantities. Most importanly, studies have shown that carbonated beverages cause a decrease in the amount of calcium in your body which puts you are risk for osteoporosis, so you really need to make sure you are getting a calcium suppliment and taking it with preferably water ; )

no because its not the same. the other junk in the soda changes the water chemistry. You need to drink a gallon of pure water a day for all your body organs to function properly at their ultimate performance.

Man, thats alot of peeing. Good Luck

uhhhh soda is very bad for you! but i think it's okay not to drink water. I mean for the most part of my teenage years I refused to drink water, but ofcourse I drank other things like juice or milk. Even to this day I rarely drink water.

ok, your body *NEEDS* 1.6 gallons of water everyday. PLAIN, SIMPLE, H2O. propel/whatever is ok for about .6 gallons but the other gallon should be plain water. it is required for your body to function right. it helps your digestive track, sleep, dealing with stress, helps improve heart and brain, and finnally re-hydrates you to perfection. for you, i would just drink 1 gallon around the day, and in the morning just drink a propel in the car drive to work ETC.

but remember, more water = more life, healthier, stronger, more energy and less stress. WATER IS ESSENTIAL OT THE HUMAN BODY!!so drink it!
