Thumb prints are absolutely NOT part of the breed standard, and you would not want to breed him.

Its genetics dear. If the gene is recessive, and the other min-pin also has the gene, then you have a 1/4 chance of getting pups with the white spots. If its recessive and the other one doesn't have the gene then it wont show it up the F1 (First Generation), it might show up in the second though. This is only correct if it is standard Mendelian inheritance patterns. (Which nothing ever is..) There is also a slight change with gene jumping that pups might get it anyway. There are many other things that could happen also, so my best advise for you...is to flip a coin. Who knows what you might get. Also, just a side note, don't breed him with a female litter mate, that just ups the chance that your puppy's will turn out with health problems.

Sherry: There should be a breed club for min-pins in your state/local area. That is your most reputable source for help with issues regarding responsible breeding. Good luck!

i'm relatively new to the minpins, i have a female, 2 yrs old
i bought a book about them and i remember that the book says
that they must not have the thumb prints, i would think there is a possibility of some of the pups having this mark or producing it
so its up to you
i just rescued a male that was about 15 lbs, more orange than red, about knee high and the owner told me he was registered!

They are normal to have on min pin's they are usally cropped off at birth and 89 % of min pins have them, there normal and your luck yif you get them, if they dont have them it could mean a sign of arthritus to soon for the pups, just a pearsonal studie.
