I was wondering if it's "weird" for a guy to call a girl out of the blue and ask her on a date. I know a girl who was a little "out of my league" in high school and still doesn't really go for guys like me. She's really kind of my dreamgirl. I rarely see her and haven't talked to her a lot since high school (5 years ago), except at the grocery store or meeting each other on the road. How should I go about just asking her to a few drinks or even starting off as friends? Plus, she has a kid, if that matters. Thanks everyone. No stupid answers, please.

If u 2 haven't talked to her in 5 years..maybe its a liitle weird for the simple fact that you have no idea what she's into now!!she may have a boyfriend or a significant other. She may not be interested in dating right now because of her child. Try asking her out for drinks as just a way of playing catch up for lost time. no harm in that. And not to shoot urself in the foot, ask her first, plan the location (not to intimate, not to open either) and give her the option of allowing u to pick her up or meeting her at the location. Good luck!

If you are serious in wanting to start a relationship, then ask her to have coffee, ice cream, a soda, to walk the mall. As far as the child is concerned, if it doesn't bother you, than that should not matter. But remember, most women are mothers first, and women second. The child is a part of the package. I had 2 very young children when I married my current husband. And 11 years later he is still around & we are still going strong. Oh and by the way he loves my sons, now young adults & they love him. Sometimes I believe even more than they love me. What I am trying to say is not to play games because there are more than just you & her at stake if the relationship sours. Hope this helps.

I personally think you should invite her to just hang out somewhere first, just as friends. Nothing too intimate or anything like that. For example, you guys could meet up for coffee...if you guys are coffee drinkers. If not, then just go to your favorite hangout place and just hang out. See how things go there and then based on how things go after that, you'll have a better idea what to do next.

Take a chance, Columbus did!

You have nothing to lose, and who says she is out of your league.
I have spent countless hours in nightclubs in my younger days, I'm married and 44 now.
I noticed sometimes that the prettiest girls were hit on less and seemed almost lonelier in a strange sense. Thats because a lot of the guys didn't have the cahonies to ask them to dance. I have seen ugly guys with pretty girls, probably because they had the confidence and gumption to go for it.

Just do it! You have nothing to lose.
Empower yourself, free yourself, be yourself!

I would just play it casual by asking her out for drinks or to play pool. Tell her you know single moms need to get out more often. If she passes without a legit reason I would move on. If she accepts then play it cool, yes become her friend then take it from there.

well we should have all grown up a bit since high school, so i would just call her up and ask her out, and say to her what you asked here.
