YES
I have a single mom!!!
She use to be very tough on my sister & I.
We use to get beatings (not abused)
And today we have so much respect for her, and no we do not fear her.
Funny you asked this q coz this morning on our way to work my sister & i spoke about this.
I can truelly see that my mother did a good job with us.

Sadists would be a better word. My father used to throw me naked on the bed and then beat me with his belt like an animal.

My Dad, yes and no, when my dad knew i did something wrong and punished me for it, then yes he was, but when i did nothing wrong and he got angry, because of either being too drunk or other things, then no.
My mom, No, all she did was emotionally abuse me.
