anyone know about how big a Neodymium magnet i would need and what shape to hold the spring latch of a briefcase closed. I need to be able to pull the latch open. I
I was thinking something about the size/shape of a penny. Distance is about 1/4" It's a prop for a show so it doesn't have to work great. i'm going epoxy the magnet to the inside of the case and close the latch which is broken to hold the case closed.

I don't know but you are brilliant for thinking of that as a solution! I solve problems like that through trial and error ( the magnet size). I know you will figure it out if someone doesn't have the exact answer for you.
