I love mine, it's a Taylor. The reviews on Amazon say that the probes go bad when exposed to really high heat and you don't know it until you've burnt something up. I have avoided this problem by cooking to time for half the time and then inserting the probe, so it's not exposed to the 500 degrees oven start temp. I'm not sure how things would work on a grill which has much higher temperatures than a 350 oven. I will say that the remote feature is great. Although I recommend setting the alarm for lower internal temperature than you actually want so you don't miss it. You wouldn't believe how fast temperature goes up at the end of cooking.

I hated mine. Luckily, last year in my Christmas stocking I got one made by Pyrex. It has a timer that is attached to the probe and I can set it to go off after a certain time or when a certain temp has been reached. And I love it. It has a magnet on the back so it sticks to the range hood if I am cooking on the stove or to the grill (not the lid). It also can be used for a timer. I use mine when I am smoking a chicken outside and the beep is loud enough for me to hear inside the kitchen. The only thing that I don't like but wouldn't make me get rid of it is how to store it. After keeping it in a drawer where it got tangled I finally just left it on the range hood with the probe wrapped around it to keep it out of the way.

I like the one I have now much better. The traditional thermos work better because you can calibrate them easier. Digital seem to have more problems especially if the batteries run low.
