I think (someone can verify) if you hook up a AA (1.5 volt) battery the right way to a speaker, the speaker will push out.

You then can determine which wire is what by how you hooked up the battery and the way the wire hooks up.

It sounds like you are trying to identify which of the vehicle harness wires is positive, correct?
So the color sheme is inconsistent because the car companies don't care about consumer electronics standards.
Sparky was right. You need to look at one of the original speakers. use some wire to touch the + and - of a 1.5v battery to the speaker. when the cone pushes out (away from the magnet), then + is on +, and - is on -.
Once you know that you need to look a the way the vehicle connector plugs in. It will only go one way, and that will let you know which side is positive.
usually all 4 speakers have the same connector with the same + terminal. Trust that.
The wire color scheme may change from speaker to speaker so don't trust color.

the speaker should have a + and a - by the connections between the wires and itself, then just keep track of which wire is which. or if there isn't any markings you can get a light tester, which will light up if the wire is hot. It has a clamp to hook to a ground source and a needle to touch to the wire to see if its hot, if so then it'll light up, if not then it wont, but make sure the ground it properly set up or it won't work.

The negetive is usially a solid black wire. If u see a wire of any color with dashes or a broken line, that is usually positive
