Just one of those things. I cant become president of a county other than my own either, why should I? I think countries want to be capable of producing their own leaders.

Well, man look the position for presidency is mainly directed to White Americans and what makes you think that such an idea can be considered. It has to do with manipulation of white America. How come a African American can't seem to win office yet he has all the qualification or a women for that matter. Remember that white senators and representatives have power and they manipulate the choices and decisions . Even if an immagrant has all the knowledge and qualification (excuding be born in the US) I am sure he is not going to get a lot of votes. Also take a look at children from 1 generation citizens , you do not see them running for office because no one is there to back them up.

Only natural born citizens are allowed to run for president due to the indelible allegiance of an immigrant to the country of origin.

I agree with Chris_J about the loyaly/allegiance to their country of origin. Also, it states in the Constitution that a US president must be born in the United States.

No reason other than it is in the Constitution. Petition Congress for an amendment to change this provision. Arnold for President baby!

Personally I see the law is there, and I do not want someone that was not born and reared here. Any country could put anyone in here to simply turn us around away from what we worked to achieve back as we so-call "Discovered America". . . . . . ."Under God" . . .
We have enough of our own that want to do that.

Ummm you may want to rethink that question all the above comments pretty much cover it!!! I don't want someone in the White House that doesn't have ode to his country first.....it is sort of like the saying..."blood is thicker than water". If you have ever heard that one before! That is the best analogy I can think of for your question.

The rationale behind that is that someone who was born in another country has an interest in having an allegiance with that country and may not always be looking out for the best interest of our country.
